Bengals Browns Spread Pick Week 1 NFL

An interesting matchup of division rivals that will be battling to stay out of the cellar of the AFC North. With the Browns not having to see the Ravens or the Steelers until week 13 at the earliest, this gives them some time to adjust to new chief in town, Coach Pat Shurmur. With the lock out taking away from precious time to learn the new “West Coast” offense that Shurmur runs, week 1 will be a test to show what they have put together in the short time of training. Colt McCoy looks for a bounce back year and to get back on track to a similar offense he ran in college. As for the Bengals, their troubles are much deeper than those of learning a new offense. Carson Palmer, Ocho & T.O. are gone, and Cedric Benson its tough to find a face on the Bengals that many will know. This bottom feeder game is bound to have us tuned in, (if they don’t black out the game, due to non-attendance).

Bengals vs Browns Pick Against The Spread:

PICK = BENGALS -6.5

With Benson behind bars, the Bengals are going to have to look to former TCU quarterback Andy Dalton to lead the way, along side a young and inexperienced receiving core, led by A.J Green. With Ocho taking passes from Tom Brady now, and T.O no where to be found, this doesn’t leave many options down the field for a rookie quarterback. Going to be a long day at the office for the Bengals as they look to piece players into positions and hope for the best. With the Carson Palmer era over, and a tons of rookies making there first starts in the NFL, this could get ugly for the Bengals from opening kick off. Lots of different opportunities for McCoy to take advantage of. A depleted secondary should help McCoy gain confidence as there will be holes down the field most of the day. If McCoy can’t find a hole down field, he can certainly hand the ball off to Hillis and for a run right through the Bengals defensive line. Hillis can take matters into his own hands, and is one for creating his own opportunities. The Madden ’12 cover boy looks to continue his dominance with a big opening day performance, and throughout the season will no doubt look to out perform his 2010-11 stats—Hillis ran for 1,177 yards last year, with 11 TD’s and 2 receiving TD’s.

With the game held in Cleveland, at the always loud Cleveland Browns stadium, you can expect an outstanding show from the home town Browns. As for the Bengals, and all their rookies, they’d be wise to prepare for one of the toughest places to play in the NFL, especially during week 1. Cleveland will look to get to Dalton early as the drop to Benson is not an option this week. Cribbs is coming off a hamstring injury but has returned to full practice. Cribbs is one of McCoy’s favourite passing options and will be sure to see a fair share of touches, as long as the hamstring is running at 100%. Tough time to be a Bengals fan, Browns will be dominate and will show definite signs of improvement under Shurmur. Browns -6.5 and then some.
