The NHL is set up with another great week of action on Week 2. Fourteen games will be up on the board throughout Sunday. One of these matchups will be between the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins. These two teams should meet in a strong divisional matchup on Sunday afternoon. This game will kick off at around 1:00 PM Eastern time.
Buffalo finished out the 2019 season with a record of 10-6, which had them in second place of the AFC East. The Bills are now 1-0 on the new season after winning in Week 1. Buffalo will look to keep up a strong record with another win on the road. The Bills have a good chance to take control of the division this season, but will need to keep up the strong record.
The Dolphins finished out last season with a record of 5-11, which put them in fourth place of the AFC East. Miami started off the new season with an 0-1 record after losing in their Week 1 game. The Dolphins have had a tough start with a loss, but will look to bounce back with a huge win in their home opener.
These two teams will look to earn a win in an early season divisional game. The Dolphins already took a loss in their division and will look to avoid taking two in a row. The Bills can assert dominance with a big win on the road in their division in this one. I expect a strong matchup as both teams try and come out fast in the first half to earn a win.
The Bills and the Dolphins met up twice last season. The first game was in Week 7 in Miami. Ryan Fitzpatrick rushed and threw for a touchdown, but it was not enough. Josh Allen threw for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Micah Hyde closed out the game with a kick return touchdown as the Bills came from behind to win 31-21 on the road.
The second meeting of the season was in Buffalo in Week 11. Jakeem Grant scored a rushing touchdown and return touchdown for the Dolphins, but Miami still fell short in this one. Josh Allen threw three touchdown passes, including two of those to John Brown. The Bills took control of this one early as they jumped out to a 37-20 win at home.
Buffalo’s first game of this season was against the Jets at home. Josh Allen threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns. Allen ran for another 57 yards and a touchdown as the Bills dominated for a 27-17 win at home. Buffalo’s defense was also able to force an interception and a fumble as they took the win over their division rival.
The Dolphins Week 1 matchup was against the Patriots in New England. Jordan Howard ran for Miami’s only touchdown on the day. Cam Newton was able to rush for two touchdowns against the Dolphins. Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 191 yards and three interceptions as Miami could not come out on top. The Patriots finished with a 21-11 win at home.
Josh Allen has been a strong starter for Buffalo since he took over the job. Allen finished out last season with 3089 yards, 20 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Allen rushed for another 510 yards and 9 touchdowns. Allen has started off this season with two touchdowns in the air and one on the ground. If Allen can put up another mistake free game, it should help the Bills win on the road.
Ryan Fitzpatrick is coming off a week to forget in Week 1. Fitzpatrick finished out last season with 3529 yards through the air, while scoring 20 touchdowns against 13 interceptions. He also rushed for another 4 touchdowns and 243 yards. Fitzpatrick struggled in the first week of this season, only throwing for 191 yards and three interceptions.
The Bills have the edge in this Game with Allen starting under Center. Fitzpatrick can be a very strong starter at times, but can also be very inconsistent. After a tough Week 1, Fitzpatrick will not catch a break going up against Buffalo’s strong defense. If the Bills shutdown Fitzpatrick, it should lead them to a big win on Sunday afternoon.
The Bills boast a very strong defense. Last season, Buffalo’s defense finished with 23 turnovers, which was tenth in the NFL. The Bills also allowed the third least yards last season to their opponents. The Bills will face the Dolphins, who turned the ball over 26 times last season and three times in Week 1. Buffalo only allowed 254 yards to New York in Week 1, which was third best in the NFL.
Miami did not have a great defense last season, earning only 16 turnovers and the third worst yards to opposing teams. The Dolphins earned a turnover in Week 1, but allowed New England to drive for 357 yards throughout Week 1. Miami will need to clean up their defense if they want to win in Week 2 against the Bills.
Buffalo has the much better defense in this matchup, which I think will give them a nice edge coming into Week 2. If the Bills can shut down the Dolphins running game, it will force Ryan Fitzpatrick to throw. I believe that Buffalo can then force Fitzpatrick to make a mistake. I believe the Bills can move the ball on Miami’s defense as well, which could lead them to a nice road win.
Both of these teams are coming off divisional games in Week 1, where Miami lost, while the Bills won. I expect Buffalo to keep up this success though as they look to knock off the Dolphins in Miami. The Dolphins will have some fans at their home game, but I do not think this will give them enough of an edge. I like the Bills chances to win on the road.
BetOnline has Buffalo listed as a -5 ½ against the spread in Week 2. This gives a solid edge to the Bills on the road, which I agree with. I think that Buffalo had a great offseason, which can help give this team the edge in the division. I like the Bills defense in this game a lot, especially over a struggling Dolphins offense. I am taking Buffalo against the spread in this one.
