With a hugely fortunate finish for myself in Thursday night’s Packers/Lions game, I’m hopeful that run of good luck can continue into the Sunday slate of Week 13 action. To kick things off, we’ll turn to the AFC West for a divisional clash between the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers. Ever since Peyton Manning went down, Brock Osweiler has come in and provided Denver with some very solid plays from the quarterback position. Denver is also fresh off a thrilling victory in Week 12 against the then undefeated Patriots. The Broncos will be looking to carry that momentum into this week as they work to secure homefield advantage in the post-season. The Chargers on the other hand, have been the epitome of inconsistent so far this campaign. While injuries have derailed their chances, they still possess enough talent to scare the best teams in the NFL. This has all the makings of a solid football game with plenty on the line, so read on below for full game details and a Week 13 prediction.

Broncos vs. Chargers Pick:
Everything seems to be clicking once again for the Denver Broncos. After a bit of a lull and a run of some poor play with Peyton Manning under centre, Denver looked great in the second half of Week 12 in taking down the Patriots. Brock Osweiler has been solid and their rushing attack has finally gotten back on track. This is not good news for San Diego at all. The Chargers are absolutely horrid in defending the run, and Denver should be able to run all over them, controlling the clock and the game tempo throughout. They’re legitimately dead last in the NFL, so look for a big outing from C.J. Anderson again on Sunday.
For the Chargers, as mentioned above, it has been a season of inconsistency. Week-to-week you just never know what you’re going to get from this team, or what kind of play you’ll see from Philip Rivers. Injuries have derailed their chances but they still have a talented group in San Diego. As a result, expect to see the bad version of the Chargers today. Denver possesses a simply dominating defense and they should be able to get to Rivers with regularity and fluster the QB. Their pass rush is terrific while the Broncos also boast the personnel in their secondary to take away the long ball. Even on the ground the Chargers won’t stand much of a chance when it comes to relieving pressure. Denver’s got the top-rated run defense in the NFL this season so it’s going to be tough sledding for Melvin Gordon out of the backfield.
I was a tad surprised by the low spread here, and while I can understand a bit of a letdown from the Broncos following a huge victory over the Patriots – they’re not losing to the Chargers. San Diego is a mess and matches up horribly against Denver. San Diego is also notorious for boasting no homefield advantage whatsoever, and expect many Broncos fans in the stands to propel Denver to a convincing victory today. Broncos roll by two scores.
PICK = Broncos -4 (-110)
