The NFL is set up with another great Sunday of action. Twelve games are up on the board throughout Sunday. One of these games will be between the Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots. These two teams have had opposite seasons so far, but could both use a much needed win on Sunday. This game will kick off at around 1:00 PM Eastern time on November 29.
The Cardinals have put up a record of 6-4 throughout the season so far, which has them in third place of the NFC West. Arizona is in a very competitive NFC West division, where the top three teams are separated by one game. The Cardinals are coming off a tough loss on Thursday Night Football and will look to bounce back with a win in this one.
New England has earned a record of 4-6 throughout this season, which has them sitting in third place of the AFC East. The Patriots could still make a playoff push if they can find some rhythm down the stretch of the season. New England suffered a tough loss in their last performance after winning back to back games. The Patriots will look to get back in the win column in this one.
These two teams are both sitting in third place of their division, but the Cardinals are right behind first place. The Patriots still have a chance to make a playoff push, but need a win in this one. These two teams have been up and down at times this season, but will both look to come out strong in this one. This should be a great one in the early slate of Sunday’s games.
Arizona met up with the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football last week. Kyler Murray had two passing touchdowns, while Kenyan Drake had a rushing touchdown early. Russell Wilson also threw for two touchdowns and Carlos Hyde ran for a touchdown. The Seahawks were able to hold on for a nice 28-21 win over their division rival.
The Patriots faced off against the Houston Texans in Week 11. Cam Newton had a passing touchdown, while Damien Harris rushed for a touchdown on the day. Deshaun Watson had two passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown to help lead the Texans though. Houston was able to hold on for a nice 27-20 win at home.
These two teams are coming off tough losses in Week 11. The Cardinals could not pull off the comeback against the Seahawks, while Houston was able to hold off the Patriots late. Arizona could have taken the top spot in the division with a win, but instead find themselves back a game on the Seahawks and the Rams now. The Cardinals will look to respond with a win in this one.
Kyler Murray is the starting Quarterback for the Cardinals. Murray has had a strong season so far, building off his rookie campaign. He has thrown for 2644 yards, 19 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He has also rushed for 619 yards and 10 touchdowns. Murray went 29-42 for 269 yards and 2 touchdowns in last week’s loss.
Cam Newton has been the starting QB for New England most of this season. Newton has seen his share of struggles this season. He has thrown for 1900 yards, 4 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Newton has rushed for 341 yards and 9 touchdowns as well. In last week’s loss Newton went 26-40 for 365 yards and a touchdown.
Murray has been the better Quarterback this season, throwing for more yards, touchdowns and rushing for more yards. Newton will need to step up for the Patriots if they want to earn a win in this one. New England’s offense has struggled to find consistency at times this season and this starts with the Quarterback. If Murray can come out and outduel Newton, it could give a big edge to Arizona on the road.
Offense vs Defense
The Cardinals offense has been clicking throughout this season. Arizona has scored 287 points, which is 7th in the NFL. The Cardinals have gained the most yards in the league with 4143 on the season. The Cardinals defense has given up 238 points and 2677 yards, which is 13th and 19th in the NFL this season. Arizona has been middle of the pack on defense and will need them to step up against the Patriots.
New England’s offense has not been great throughout this season. The Patriots have put up 209 points and 3638 yards, which is 27th and 16th in the league. New England’s defense has continued to be solid though. The Patriots have allowed opposing teams to score 238 points, which is 13th in the NFL. New England has also given up 3579 yards, which is 16th in the league.
Arizona has the edge on the offensive side of the ball in this matchup. The Cardinals have been able to move the ball down the field with ease this season and if they can do it on the Patriots it will be hard to keep up with them. The Cardinals defense will need to limit New England’s offense though if they want to win. If Arizona can force Newton to a couple of turnovers, it could make the difference in this one.
The Cardinals and the Patriots are both coming off losses last week, but Arizona had more time to prepare after playing on Thursday Night Football. I believe that will give the Cardinals the edge coming into this one. Arizona has been the better team this season and if Murray can come out strong on Sunday afternoon, I believe it will lead to a Cardinals win.
BetOnline has Arizona listed as a -2 against the spread in this one. This gives a slight edge to the Cardinals. I believe that while Arizona is on the road, they should still be bigger favorites. The Cardinals have been a much better team this season and if they can come out strong, I think it will be too much for the Patriots.
