The Arizona Cardinals have firmly established themselves as one of the NFL’s top teams early in 2015 and they’ll look to keep the momentum rolling as they travel to Steeltown to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in an early 1:00 eastern start. Aside from one lackluster outing at home to the Rams, there is a case to be made that the Cardinals can be considered an outside Super Bowl threat for this season. Whether or not that comes to fruition remains to be seen, but the Cardinals are an impressive group and they should be primed for a big stage to play in front of Pittsburgh’s crazy fans on Sunday afternoon. Read on below for a full game breakdown and an official selection for this match-up.

Cardinals vs. Steelers Pick:
While there certainly has to be a lot of fanfare surrounding the Steelers big win on Monday Night Football in Week 5, winning like that won’t work against a team as capable as the Cardinals. Mike Vick wasn’t good at all – with San Diego’s secondary dropping two surefire interceptions, and he looked shaky and uncertain in the pocket. If it wasn’t for Le’Veon Bell, it would’ve been a disaster for the black and yellow. Again, you can get away with things like that against the Chargers, but against the Cards, no chance. Look for Arizona to be their usual ferocious selves on defense today, ramming through Pittsburgh’s offensive line to wreak havoc on Vick with every chance they get.
Arizona’s defense is supremely opportunistic, buoyed with play-makers at virtually every position. They forced many turnovers last week against the Lions and should be able to pick up where they left off last week vs. Matthew Stafford. Pittsburgh will of course try to limit Vick by giving the ball to Bell at every opportunity, but for as good of a back as he is, the Cardinals are excellent at limiting opposing rushers. Arizona has limited three of their past five opponents to 50 or fewer rushing yards.
On offense, it’s all about Carson Palmer right now for Arizona as the veteran QB is definitely reviving his career in 2015. Last week the Chargers’ O-Line melted playing with so many back-ups, but the Cards won’t face the same challenges on Sunday. Arizona boasts a formidable offensive line and they’ve held up pretty well so far this season. One area Pittsburgh will almost certainly have no answers for, is the depth at the receiver position from Arizona. The Steelers’ secondary is abysmal, and it’s uncertain if Will Allen will feature in it today. John Brown and Larry Fitzgerald have been excellent so far this season, and should continue today as well.
Pittsburgh is likely not their freshest off a short week, and an emotional last-minute victory against the Chargers. The Cardinals are one of the hottest teams in football and match-up very well against an overachieving Steelers squad minus their leader in Ben Roethlisberger. Let’s also not forget the fact that Cards’ coach Bruce Arians used to be the offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh before they released him. There’s a revenge angle as well. All of those things point to a Cardinals victory by at least a touchdown day. Keep rolling with the hot team.
PICK = Cardinals -3.5 (-110)
