Chiefs Rams Spread Line and Predictions NFL Week 15 Picks

This is what week 15 is really all about. Two over achieving teams duking it out in must win situations. The Rams can still win their division in what many are calling an embarrassing NFC West, but what people need to remember is to never count a team out once they’re in the playoffs. If St. Louis finish the season strong and get into the playoffs then watch out because a team with nothing to lose and everything to gain is a scary opponent in the postseason. The same goes for the Chiefs. They’ve made huge strides in the 2 years that Todd Hailey has taken over as Head Coach, and they’ll need a win this week to keep San Diego at bay. The Chiefs and Rams face off at 1:00 p.m. EST at Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.

Both teams are used to playing the role of the underdog, and both have thrived in that position this year. But this week will be a very close battle between two of the youngest teams in the NFL, and should make for great entertainment. It’ll be a college style game that should encompass every aspect of the game to make for a high scoring shoot out affair. The Chiefs can score at will, boasting one of the best offenses in the league and the best rushing attack on the year with Jamal Charles and Thomas Jones leading the way. They average over 165 yards per game on the ground, and QB Matt Cassel has benefited from teams having to respect the run by loading the box. That being said, Cassel has some weapons to throw to. WR Dwayne Bowe leads the league with 14 TDs and will be a threat this week against what should be single coverage once again. The Rams will most likely play the role of the road team this week. They’ll try and slow the game down and control the clock with Steven Jackson. They don’t want to get into a shootout with the Chiefs, but they may not have a choice.

St. Louis rank 20th against the pass and 12th against the run, but their run defense isn’t good enough to shut down the Chiefs potent attack, especially in great running conditions like indoors at Edward Jones Dome. Sam Bradford has been a very pleasant surprise for St. Louis this year, but the Rams lack any real threat at the receiver position. That being said, Steven Jackson plays like a receiver and is one of the best pass catching RB in the league. KC will have to respect his talents by staying home and keep pressure off Bradford. Look for the Rams to employ a lot of screens and dump offs to get Jackson in the open field.

Chiefs vs. Rams Prediction for Week 15 Betting:

Game Total Prediction (Top Play): The number is low in this game given the Rams 25th ranking in points scored on offense, but I like special teams to play a factor this week for both teams. KC’s Dexter McCluster is lethal in open space and points will be scored whichever way you look at this one. The Rams have given up over 30 points in 3 of their last 4 games, with the only exception coming against the Cardinals who couldn’t score at a brothel on a Saturday night…The number is too low for me this week.

Top Play Prediction = Over 42.5.

Spread Prediction: The Chiefs lost a big game last week in San Diego, but Cassel sat out that game due to injury and Brody Croyle played for the Chiefs. There’s a reason Croyle isn’t a starter in this league, and the Chiefs did what they could, but were in a very bad situation against a Chargers team that were itching for revenge. This week should be different and it’s a great bounce back situation for the Chiefs to be in. St. Louis were out classed by the Saints last week and by the Falcons 3 weeks before. They’ve beaten Washington, Seattle, Carolina, Denver, and Arizona in 5 of their 6 wins. These teams are hardly in the upper echelon of the league, and I rate Kansas City as a better all around team than these ones. The Chiefs are underdogs in a great bounce back situation, and I advise taking the points.

Prediction = KC +3.
