One of the premier matchups of Week 4 will go down during the first wave of Sunday action as the Cleveland Browns travel to Dallas to take on a depleted Cowboys squad.
Following a disappointing Week 1 outing, the Browns have taken care of business over their past two weeks – feasting on inferior opposition. Their defense is finally starting to live up to lofty expectations, while their offense is showing life and talent.
For Dallas, what was once considered their division to lose is suddenly becoming any team’s game. Though the NFC East looks comically bad, the amount of injuries in which Dallas has had to deal with late would make any team uncomfortable. At many positions, the Cowboys enter with crucial injuries which is going to make this contest a lot tougher than it typically would be.
Still, with the amount of high-profile talent on either side of the football, it should make for a fascinating encounter between two skilled football teams. With both squads desperately pining for the post-season, it should make for an entertaining affair. Cleveland Browns vs. Dallas Cowboys Pick:
Although Dallas lost Sunday to Seattle, there are certainly some positives that their squad can take away from that contest. Dak Prescott and the offense looked excellent, finally showing their dynamic potential.
That said, upon further review and analysis – they feasted on a depleted secondary, and still couldn’t outscore their defensive miscues. This week, it is certainly not going to come as easy as it did vs. the Seahawks, especially through the air.
Cleveland is once again healthy and their pass defense is much improved. In fact, at full strength it is one of the few teams in the entire NFL that can withstand a lethal Cowboys’ receiving trio of CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, and Amari Cooper. Making matters worse for Dallas on offense, is the fact that Dak Prescott will still be receiving suspect protection, as both La’el Collins and Tyron Smith are expected to be out once again, or at best – playing through a fair bit of pain.
On defense though is where Dallas’ injuries make things very concerning. They’re down about five starters at the moment, split between their secondary and linebacking crew. The Seahawks did whatever they wanted last week, and with Cleveland’s improved output, combined with Baker Mayfield’s accuracy – the former Oklahoma Sooner could be in for a big outing.
Cleveland has shown big improvements in recent weeks, and definitely have progressed since last season. There’s optimism within both units at the moment, and look for this group to use this momentum into another big outing vs. Dallas. The spread is currently inflated, and the Browns represent solid value to cover the number here in Week 4.
