The NFL is set up with another great week of action in Week 4. Thirteen games will be up on the board throughout Sunday. One of these matchups will be between the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Bears. These two teams have had strong starts to this season and will look for another win in this one. This game will kick off around 4:25 PM Eastern time on October 4.
The Colts have earned a record of 2-1 throughout this season, which has them sitting in second place of the AFC South. Indianapolis went 7-9 throughout last season, which put them in third place of the division. The Colts are coming off back to back wins and will look to keep up that streak with a win on the road against the Bears.
Chicago has gone 3-0 to open the new season, which has them tied for first place in the NFC North. The Bears went 8-8 to finish out last season, which had them in third place of their division. Chicago has had a surprise start with two come from behind wins in Week’s 1 and 3. Now the Bears will look to prove that they are legit with a win in Week 4 against a tough Colts team.
These two teams have been playing really well throughout this season so far and will look to extend their winning streaks with a win in this one. The Colts are coming into an empty Soldier Field, which they will look to pull off the upset. Chicago has had to come from behind in two games this season but cannot afford to fall too far behind Indianapolis this week.
The Colts are coming off a matchup with the New York Jets in Week 3. Indianapolis dominated on defense, taking two interceptions back to the house. Justin Houston also had a safety in this game. Philip Rivers threw for a touchdown, while Jonathan Taylor rushed for another touchdown. The Colts were able to ride their defense to the 36-7 win against the Jets.
The Bears met up with the Atlanta Falcons last week in Chicago. Hayden Hurst caught a touchdown pass, while Brian Hill and Todd Gurley rushed for a touchdown as the Falcons jumped out to a 26-10 lead going into the fourth quarter. Nick Foles threw for three touchdowns after taking over for Mitchell Trubisky. Jimmy Graham caught a touchdown pass from both quarterbacks as Chicago came back to win 30-26.
These two teams are coming off big wins in Week 3 of this season. Indianapolis was able to ride their defense against a terrible New York team. The Bears were able to toss in Nick Foles, who helped lead Chicago to cause the second Falcons collapse in as many weeks. Now these two teams will look to knock each other off with a big win to continue the strong season. The last time these two teams met was in 2016, where the Colts won 29-23.
Indianapolis picked up Philip Rivers in the offseason this season from the Los Angeles Chargers. Rivers struggled last season, going 5-11 in his starts. He threw for 4615 yards, 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions on the season. Rivers has started off this season throwing for 794 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
Nick Foles came over from the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason after failing to fit in with the Jaguars. Foles went 0-4 last season in his starts with Jacksonville, throwing for 736 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Foles took over last week, throwing for 188 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception in the Bears come from behind win.
These two Quarterbacks are with new teams this season after having seasons to forget last season. Rivers struggled with turnovers last season, while Foles struggled to stay healthy. Now these two starters will look to lead their new team to a big win in Week 4. Foles worked some of his magic last week, but will he be able to do it again against the league’s top defense.
The Colts have the league’s top defense, but they have gone against the winless Jets and Vikings so far this season. Indianapolis has allowed just 45 points through three weeks, which is top in the NFL. The Colts have also only allowed 676 yards on the season, which is insane. Indianapolis has also picked off opposing Quarterbacks six times, which bodes well going against the Bears.
Chicago has had a solid defense throughout this season so far. The Bears have allowed only 62 points, which is ninth best in the NFL. Chicago’s defense has held their opponents to 1092 yards as well, which is middle of the league. The Bears have taken the ball away four times this season, but their offense has turned it over four times as well.
Indianapolis has had the best defense on the season so far and will look to keep up that trend against Chicago. The Bears have been a tough team to read this season as they have knocked off the 1-2 Detroit Lions, 0-3 New York Giants and 0-3 Atlanta Falcons. Both Colts wins are against winless teams as well. These two teams will look to prove they are legitimate contenders with big wins in Week 4 of this season.
I expect both teams to come out quick and try to set the pace in this out of the Conference matchup. I like Indianapolis a bit more though with how their defense has been performing. The Colts have a strong defensive unit and I do not think they have the hardest challenge in front of them with Chicago. The Bears offense has put together two great comebacks, but if they fall behind in this one, I expect Indianapolis’ defense to dominate.
BetOnline has Indianapolis listed as a -2 ½ against the spread for this game. This gives a slight edge to the Colts, which I agree with. Indianapolis is on the road for this game, but with no fans in attendance, I do not think this is the biggest deal. The Colts will look to ride their defense again to a win over a confusing Bears offense.
