Indianapolis Colts vs Cleveland Browns Week 5 Pick – NFL October 11

The NFL has another packed schedule in Week 5 with twelve games on the board throughout Sunday. The Colts and the Browns will meet up on Sunday afternoon in an AFC matchup. These two teams have had strong starts throughout this season and will look to keep up their starts with a win in this one. This game will kick off at around 4:25 PM Eastern time on October 11.

The Colts have started this season off with a record of 3-1, which has them in second place of the AFC South. Indianapolis finished last season with a record of 7-9, which had them in third place of the division. The Colts are coming off a nice win in the last few weeks and will look to move up in the standings with a win in Week 5.

Cleveland has earned a record of 3-1 throughout this season, which has them in second place of the AFC North. The Browns had finished out last season with a record of 6-10, which had them in third place of their division. Cleveland has broken through with a strong start and will look to keep this promising start up with a win on Sunday.

Both of these teams have been able to rattle off three straight wins after losing in Week 1. The Colts and the Browns will both look to keep up these winning streaks on Sunday. Both teams have impressed during this winning streak and will look to earn another tough win. I expect both teams to come out firing in this matchup.

Previous Matchups

The Colts are coming off a win against the Chicago Bears in Week 4. Nick Foles threw a touchdown late, but Chicago could not come up with the win. Philip Rivers had a passing touchdown to Mo Alie-Cox in the first quarter. Rodrigo Blackenship made 4-4 field goals as Indianapolis was able to earn the win. The Colts finished with a 19-11 win in this one.

Cleveland is coming off a shootout with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. Dak Prescott had another huge performance, throwing for four touchdowns, including two to CeeDee Lamb. Baker Mayfield had two passing touchdowns, while Kareem Hunt ran for two more. Odell Beckham Jr caught two touchdowns, one from Jarvis Landry and one from Mayfield. Beckham Jr. ran for another touchdown as the Browns won 49-38.

The last time the Colts and the Browns met was in 2017. Indianapolis won that matchup 31-28. The Colts have won their previous three matchups against Cleveland. The Browns will look to turn the tides with a win this season. Indianapolis has proven a little less in my mind but can prove they are legit against a tough Browns team on the road.

Quarterback Comparison

The Colts have Philip Rivers leading them out on offense now. Rivers had a tough season with the Los Angeles Chargers, going 5-11 in his starts. He threw for 4615 yards, 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. This season Rivers has thrown for 984 yards, 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Rivers will look to improve those numbers a bit to lead Indianapolis in this one.

Cleveland has Baker Mayfield leading their team in this one. Mayfield had a bit of a tough season last season. He threw for 3827 yards, 22 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. Mayfield also ran for another 141 yards and 3 touchdowns. This season Mayfield has thrown for 729 yards, 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Mayfield will look to put up another strong performance against the Colts on Sunday.

These two Quarterbacks are coming off tough seasons and looking to bounce back. Philip Rivers has not had nearly as good of a season as Baker Mayfield. Mayfield will look to continue to lead this dominant offense in this one as they play a stout Colts defense. Rivers will look to pick up his game to keep up with the Browns offense. If Mayfield can get going early though, it could break down this defense.

Offense vs Defense

The Colts have had one of the best defenses throughout this season. Indianapolis has allowed teams to 56 points and 945 total yards, which are both 1st in the NFL. The Colts have been able to score 103 points, which is 17th in the NFL. Indianapolis has also gained 1441 yards of offense, which is 21st in the league this season.

Cleveland has really solid on offense so far this season. The Browns have been able to score 124 points throughout this season, which is 4th in the league. Cleveland has also gained 1548 yards on offense, which is 13th in the league. The Browns defense has struggled a bit, allowing 126 points and 1609 total yards, which is 27th and 25th in the league respectively.

After struggling to find any offense in Week 1 of the season, the Browns offense has lit up the scoreboard since. Indianapolis has had one of the best defenses in the league this season, which they will look upon to shut down Cleveland. I expect that to be a good battle as these offenses and defenses play a chess game trying to get the edge up on each other.

Pick Overview

The Browns have been looking good after an embarrassing week against the Ravens in Week 1 and I believe they keep it up in this one. Indianapolis has not been as impressive to me beating the New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings and an unpredictable Chicago Bears team. I expect Cleveland to step up in this one and prove they are a legitimate contender.

BetOnline has this game listed as a pick against the spread. This gives even chances to both teams. While home field advantage is not what it usually is, but I believe the Browns will take advantage of it in this one. I believe Cleveland’s offense has looked dangerous as of late and they will find a way to break through on the Colts in this week.
