The return of Carson Wentz will be highly anticipated to kick off the Sunday slate of Week 3 action, as the Eagles have to be hyped to get their star quarterback back in the fold. His Eagles will be welcoming another top QB in Andrew Luck to Philadelphia, and it seems like he’s back and healthy and ready to push for the post-season.
Last week the Eagles were embarrassed against Tampa Bay. Somehow the Buccaneers just keep rolling, but the Super Bowl hangover for Philly seems to be real at the moment. They’re still a tad depleted at key positions, and though the NFC East isn’t all that competitive, the Eagles need to find another gear against an impressive looking Indianapolis Colts squad.
Our NFL picks are off to a solid start this campaign, and we will look to keep things going into Week 3. Read on below for further detail and a match breakdown in a battle of top flight QB’s and the Colts vs. Eagles.
Colts vs. Eagles Betting Odds:
Indianapolis Colts +7 (-120)
@ Philadelphia Eagles -7 (+100)

Under 47.5 (-110)
Colts vs. Eagles Pick:
Following a brutally torn knee, Carson Wentz is back and ready for game action. Of course, there are a ton of questions surrounding his ability and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was quite rusty and more immobile than previously remembered.
With Wentz back in the fold, this spread has jumped and personally the line seems to be quite a bit inflated. While we don’t want to read too much into one week, the Eagles did look awful in all facets last week in Tampa Bay.
Wentz is protected by a solid offensive line, but this Colts’ defensive front is vastly improved. They generated a heavy pass rush last week vs. Washington, and if they can get a push against Wentz, it will really prevent him from regaining that familiarity and rhythm from the pocket.
As mentioned above, the Eagles are also still quite a bit limited in terms of their receiving options available. Alshon Jeffery is still out injured, as is Mike Wallace. Beyond that, Wentz will really need to rely on Nelson Agholor to move the chains. He also has tight end Zach Ertz at his disposal, but he should be covered well by linebacker Darius Leonard of Indianapolis.
On the other side of the football, look for Andrew Luck to enjoy airing it out against the woeful Philly secondary. While they can generate pressure on Luck, if the Colts can give him a decent amount of time and space in the pocket, the Colts will be able to move the football. T.Y. Hilton is an elite downfield receiver, and right now it seems like the Eagles have nobody that can stay with the elusive talent.
The public seems to be all over Philadelphia, and have seemingly pushed this line up as a result. The Colts however aren’t as bad as recent years would suggest, and should probably be a perfect 2-0 entering Week 3. Wentz returning is obviously big for the Eagles, but there is no way he’s going to be at 100% and there is no way he will be dominating in the manner he was before the injury. This is an Eagles team with some glaring holes right now, and look for Indy to be up to challenge of exploiting them. The Colts will keep things tight on Sunday afternoon.
PICK = Colts +7 (-120)
