The AFC South is by no means the best of divisions, but still, this Colts and Jaguars Week 14 showdown does have playoff implications. Even with the Colts sitting at 6-6 and the Jags at 4-8, both squads have shown some fight of late, and this divisional clash could set the table for who is playing football in the new year and who is sitting at home, watching. The Jaguars are fresh off a crushing loss last week to the Titans – a game they really should have won. In that match-up however, you saw the future of the Jacksonville Jaguars, as Allen Robinson and Blake Bortles were simply dynamic together. On the other hand, it was a brutal week for the Colts who got manhandled by the Steelers. Both teams need a win and it should make for a pretty thrilling Week 14 showdown. It’s the Jags and the Colts, so read on below for the game breakdown and the official selection for this divisional clash.

Colts vs. Jaguars Pick:
One area the Jaguars really need to work on and refine, is their secondary. It has gotten gashed of late, but thankfully Matt Hasselbeck isn’t really the type of quarterback who can take full advantage and exploit that weakness. They will however likely be forced into the downfield passing game, as Jacksonville boasts a very sturdy run defense. The Jags are second in the NFL in terms of yards per carry in 2015, and Frank Gore is not poised for a good game. This should force the Colts into being a one-dimensional team, and despite the talented downfield personnel on Indy, the Jags should be able to at least somewhat limit the veteran Hasselbeck. Though it hasn’t been pretty for Jacksonville in recent weeks, at home and with this much on the line, I’m counting on them being able to slow a pass attack down.
On the other side of the ball, Jacksonville can most definitely counter with a stellar passing game of their own. Blake Bortles and Allen Robinson are on a different level right now, and that should continue in Week 14 against the Colts. Making matters more impressive, was Bortles did all of that dominating last week without Allen Hurns. This week, Hurns is expected to return to the fold and together, that trio should be able to wreak havoc on the Colts’ secondary. The Colts were destroyed last week by the Steelers, and the Jags should be able to put up similar numbers with Robinson and Hurns back at full-strength. On the ground, Jacksonville also has a legitimate threat here. T.J. Yeldon has come on of late and should be in line to produce another stellar effort. The Colts’ run defense has surrendered 114.7 rushing yards per game since Week 10, and Yeldon should be able to feast on them – especially with all of the attention the Colts will need to pay to that heralded Jags’ passing attack.
While their defense leaves something to be desired, there’s no doubting how hot Jacksonville is when they’ve got the football. They are on a different level right now, and with how banged-up the Colts are, I can’t trust them to win outright on the road. Things are starting to turn in Jacksonville, and look for Blake Bortles to get it done once again.
PICK = Jaguars -1.5 (-110)
