Colts vs. Steelers SNF Pick – NFL Week 13

If it feels like there are a lot of teams hovering around the .500 mark searching for the playoffs it’s because there are. As a fan that makes things a lot more interesting and there is one of those taking place on SNF. I think the Colts didn’t expect to be 6-5, they wanted a lot more out of this season. But even after their early season misfortunes they are still hanging in there. It has been a rough season in Indianapolis, as Andrew Luck has been in-and-out and then out of again in the lineup. Even though people have talked about how bad he is now, I think more of it was due to his injury. I don’t think he’s been healthy even when he was playing in games. And to think the Colts were on a lot of peoples Super Bowl radar. Hey, they are still in the race for a postseason spot, so who knows right? Matt Hasselbeck has brought a team to the Super Bowl before. Albeit a much younger Hasselbeck, but he can still play well and is a nice backup to have in Indianapolis.

He may be 40 years old, but Hasselbeck has a perfect 4-0 record as the starter. That is fact. Hasselbeck has been playing great football and has been getting better with each passing week. He clearly still has something left in the tank. He’s passed for 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in 2015. Last week against the Buccaneers he took them for 315 yards and 2 touchdowns. The ageless won has a date with the Steelers in Pittsburgh on SNF.

The Steelers enter with the same record as the Colts at 6-5. It’s another one of those games today that will have far reaching implications in a few weeks. Pittsburgh needs Roethlisberger to stay healthy for them to have a chance. I think it’s simple as that. The offense goes with the performance of Big Ben. He had one heck of a season last year, and while it hasn’t translated into 2015 mostly because of injuries, Roethlisberger is still dangerous. Against the Colts’ secondary he can be very dangerous. I give my pick below for SNF.

Indianapolis Colts vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Odds:

Colts vs. Steelers Pick:

This pick is easy for me. Not easy in the way that it is guaranteed to be an easy winner, but easy in knowing the scenario that has to play out for the Colts to cover. I see the Steelers finding their points in this game against the Colts. Roethlisberger should be in for a big game. If you have him on your fantasy team I’d go ahead and start him. The Colts are 26th in the NFL in total defense and their secondary has been getting abused, 27th in the league. The Steelers defense has had the bend but don’t break mentality. They are giving up yards, but note that Pittsburgh is allowing only 20 points per game this season.

Hasselbeck is going to need to have a big game to keep up with the Steelers. On the road at Heinz Field it isn’t going to be easy. But can he really lead them to five wins as the starter? He might have a decent game, however, Roethlisberger is going to be in for a big game against the Colts. Both of these teams need this game bad, but the Steelers are going to appear to want it more Sunday night. It’s hard not to side with Ben and the Steelers Sunday night. They bounce back after last weeks loss in Seattle.

PICK: STEELERS –7.5 (-110)
