It’s officially crunch time in the NFL season as the playoffs are just around the corner. Games are now bigger than ever and that’s especially true with the visiting team in tonight’s Thursday night contest. The Dallas Cowboys got off to a dominant start in 2014, but a recent stretch of some sluggish outings has them in a precarious position with regard to the NFC playoff picture. Tonight, Tony Romo and Co. will travel to Chicago to dispose of a fading Bears squad. Chicago had high hopes entering the year but have been brutal of late. Their offense isn’t clicking and their defense has been porous. This is a big opportunity for the Cowboys to firmly solidify their playoff standing, but it will take a big effort in this Thurday night clash.

Cowboys vs. Bears Pick:
When teams are struggling, just like the Cowboys currently are, a match-up against the Chicago Bears can quickly cure all that ails your team. The Bears have a depleted, banged-up, and overall brutal secondary. With Kyle Fuller injured, Dez Bryant will be able to have a monster game. Despite his frustrations last week against the Eagles, Bryant and Romo will both rebound for a solid outing tonight. Add in the fact that DeMarco Murray has been the best running back in the league this season, and the Bears defense is in for another long evening. Regardless of this unit’s recent improvements, they remain an abysmal defense and a motivated squad with loads of talent like the Cowboys, should be able to gash them both through the air and on the ground.
On the defensive side of things, expect the Bears struggle to continue. The Cowboys have a solid group up front that can put pressure on a weakened Bears offensive line. Jay Cutler has shown minimal interest in winning football games of late, and as a result he should struggle with the pressure the Cowboys will bring tonight. While Dallas does have a bit of a porous secondary, the pressure they generate up front should be enough to disrupt the flow of Cutler’s offense. Again, look for yet another evening of the Bears not utilizing their vast array of offensive weapons.
Simply put, this game means a ton for Dallas and with their veteran-laden group, look for them to do just enough to squeak out with the win and the subsequent cover. Their offense is far better than Chicago’s defense, and with the current state of the Chicago offense led by Cutler, the Cowboys defense will give their offense a chance to win the game. After many years of failures, this year feels a bit different for the Dallas Cowboys, and look for a statement win from them tonight. Tony Romo and Jason Garrett have been through this before, and they understand this is a grand opportunity for America’s Team. With the Bears on the ropes, look for Dallas to put the finishing touches on them tonight.
PICK = Cowboys -4 (-110)
