Cowboys vs. Eagles Pick:

You can bet Tony Romo and the entire Cowboys locker room are headed to Philly with revenge on their minds. They were roundly embarrassed on Thanksgiving and will be eagerly seeking redemption for that outing. It’s a big one too, as the NFC is incredibly tight, and an 11-5 record with tiebreakers factored in may not be enough to get into the post-season. There are a ton of good teams in that conference this year, and every game down the stretch will take on great importance.

While the Dallas defense has struggled at times this season, their offense has rarely sputtered – aside from that one brutal outing to these same Eagles. It was surprising just how ineffective they were on offense, and that is something that really should be rectified heading into tonight’s clash. Philadelphia’s secondary still remains a brutal unit overall, and the weapons that Romo possesses should be able to gash them on a consistent basis. The Eagles have had major issues within their secondary all season long, and while they limited Dez Bryant once, they’ll be hard-pressed to do it for the second time in less than a month. Bank on Bryant having a big outing tonight. The Eagles run defense has fared well, though coming off games against the likes of Demarco Murray and Marshawn Lynch in back-to-back weeks, might soften them up a bit for tonight. Dallas is 6-0 on the road this year and their road offense has been dynamic. Look for an impressive performance from them tonight.

Where I see a big advantage tonight for the Cowboys is in the quarterback match-up. Mark Sanchez has been serviceable as the Eagles new play-caller under centre but he’s been prone to some horrid mistakes. Look for those to take on great importance tonight. Sanchez is wildly inconsistent and this is still the same guy who made egregious errors to the likes of Carolina and Tennessee. The Dallas defense will pressure him hard tonight, and a couple of turnovers are in the cards for the former USC grad. Last week he only passed for 96 yards and was brutal against Seattle. Even though the Seahawks present a dominant defense, it was a sign of things to come for Sanchez and the Eagles attack. Dallas will look to duplicate that gameplan, frustrating Sanchez and halting Chip Kelly’s offense.

This game is Dallas’ to win. They’re the better overall team and have less glaring holes than Philadelphia. Even though the Eagles have an impressive record, it’s a bit fraudulent due to the quality of teams they’ve currently beaten – especially at home. They’ve got glaring holes in their secondary, and look for Dallas’ key strength to expose that over and over again tonight. Getting 3.5 points is a nice little treat, as I see the Cowboys leaving Philly with 1st place in the NFC East in their back pockets.

PICK = Cowboys +3.5 (-110)
