Cowboys vs. Eagles SNF Pick – NFL Week 10

Regardless of their records, it is always exciting when the Cowboys take on the Eagles, and that will be the case for the Week 10 edition of Sunday Night Football. The NFC East has been wide open in 2018, with none of the four teams able to take ahold of the division. This key showdown will go a long way in settling who can top the division and claim that playoff spot.

Dallas was embarrassed last week vs. the lowly Titans. They have all kinds of weaknesses, but sometimes playing a divisional rival can bring out the best in teams. Dallas has more to offer, especially on offense – but entering Week 10 with a 3-5 record means it’s now or never for the Cowboys.

The Eagles meanwhile are fresh and rested and ready for a dominating second-half of the NFL season. Their Super Bowl hangover should have subsided by now, and big things are expected out of the talented, yet underperforming Eagles. They enter this key divisional showdown with a 4-4 record, and a win at home over the Cowboys can go a long way in distancing them even further from Dallas in terms of playoff positioning. Coming off of a bye, and integrating new wideout Golden Tate – it will be intriguing to see what Eagles team shows up in this crucial Week 10 encounter.

It is always special when the Eagles take on the Cowboys in a primetime slot. Given the implications that are already on the line, this should make for a fascinating encounter. Read on below for further game analysis and an official betting selection for the Eagles and Cowboys.

Cowboys vs. Eagles Pick:

It will be fascinating to watch the Philadelphia offense in this encounter. It is no secret that they have been a bit stagnant this season, but adding in Golden Tate at wide receiver should add a new element that this team definitely needs. The exciting receiver has a solid matchup in his first game vs. Dallas, as the Cowboys can’t really cover the slot. Some might remember that when Tate was back with the Lions, he shredded the Cowboys – and Sunday evening should be no different.

The Cowboys are also expected to be without Sean Lee at linebacker. Lee is the main captain of this defense and makes key reads and assignments before every down. Not having him on the field is a huge loss for Dallas, and is likely why this spread has moved in favour of Philly throughout the week. Lee’s likely absence makes Zach Ertz at tight end an even bigger threat for the Eagles’ attack. Look for Wentz to hit him regularly, especially when the Cowboys’ solid pass rush gets after him quickly. Philly will move the chains regularly in this contest, and a lot of it will come through quick, short passes to Ertz and Tate.

Dallas too traded for a wide receiver, Amari Cooper from Oakland. Cooper was solid in his first outing for the Cowboys, though it will prove tough to get him the ball in this one. A growing issue for Dallas at the moment has been the play of their offensive line. It is nowhere near good enough right now and combined with key injuries, the Eagles’ ferocious defensive front will provide all kinds of issues. Last week, Dak Prescott had no time and space vs. Tennessee, and Philly can bring way more heat and pressure. Prescott will be forced into turnovers.

Usually the Cowboys’ main outlet for offense comes through the talented Ezekiel Elliott at running back. But going against the Eagles’ stout run defense will be very difficult. Expect Philly’s front to put the clamps down on Zeke and force him into either a pass-catcher, or force the Cowboys into a pass-only team praying for long-ball connections downfield.

This is a bad matchup at the wrong time for Dallas. Their season is slipping away, and I can’t see this contest being all that close. The Eagles are riding a wave of momentum at the moment and are refreshed and energized following their trip to London and the subsequent bye week. I am pretty surprised this spread isn’t in double digits, but my advice would be to bet it early as it will rise before kickoff on Sunday night. Take the Eagles -7 in a rout.

PICK = Eagles -7 (-120)
