A couple of teams hovering around the .500 mark, looking to play a role in the post-season, will face-off on Sunday in the late afternoon as the visiting Miami Dolphins travel to southern California to battle the San Diego Chargers. After a rough start, the Dolphins have finally started playing to their potential. They have reeled off three straight victories, but will now take their show to the road to battle an impressive Chargers squad. San Diego are also coming off a big win, as they put up 43 points on the Titans last week. Both of these squads are trending in the right direction at the right time, and that should make for a thrilling affair. Read on below for detailed game analysis, as well as an official betting selection for the Dolphins and Chargers.

Dolphins vs. Chargers Pick:
Philip Rivers has been outstanding all season long for the Chargers. Even without his stud receiver in Keenan Allen, Rivers has kept his team afloat and ready for the challenge of competing in the supremely tough AFC West. That said, he will be going against a stellar defensive line for Miami. The Dolphins bring all kinds of pressure and I am not certain the Chargers will be able to handle it on Sunday. Cameron Wake and Ndamukong Suh have big mismatches on their side of the line of scrimmage and this should bode well for the Dolphins getting to Rivers and disrupting his timing and rhythm from the pocket. Moving the ball through the air will be very tough for the Chargers, and look for them to utilize the ground game and Melvin Gordon more often.
The Dolphins do not have the same issues as San Diego. They block exceptionally well, especially in the run game for their new stud in Jay Ajayi. The running back revelation has been running all over teams in recent weeks, and Ajayi should once again dominate a mediocre Chargers run defence. The Jets supposedly had a stellar run defence, and Ajayi just gashed them. He’s red-hot at the moment and the Dolphins can definitely rely on him for positive yardage on every down this week. Passing the ball, Ryan Tannehill will need to make quick decisions with this dangerous San Diego pass rush. Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa have looked dangerous since they’ve been paired up, and Tannehill will need to move the ball quickly to the likes of Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker to keep pass rushers away from him.
The way this match-up is shaping, it seems like running the ball and defence could win out. This tilts the advantage to the underdog Dolphins, as they enter with a red-hot pass rush and an outstanding rusher in Ajayi. Look for them to control possession and the game as a whole, and while I am not certain they’ll escape San Diego with an outright victory – covering the 4.5 point spread bodes well for them. Miami is good and if Tannehill doesn’t make multiple errors, you have to like Miami’s chances at four straight victories on Sunday.
PICK = Dolphins +4.5 (-110)
