Andy Reid threw the NFL and fans alike a curve ball this past week when he flip flopped on his starting QB stance and reinserted Michael Vick into the pivot position. Reason being, Vick is hot right now and he gives the Eagles the best chance to win on any given Sunday. Vick’s (1-1) Philadelphia Eagles travel south to EverBank Field to tangle with the (1-1) Jacksonville Jaguars in what should be a bruising affair, kickoff slated for 4:05 PM EST. The Jaguars announced they have slightly more than 700 non-premium tickets to sell for Sunday’s game, which means they are likely to announce the TV blackout will be lifted Thursday, a rare feet in recent years for this troubled franchise and could be inspiration enough for this team to prevail. The Jaguars will look to keep their undefeated record (3-0) intact against the Eagles this Sunday afternoon and keep pace in the, now, highly contested AFC South.
The Philadelphia Eagles avenged their week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers by beating up on another NFC North club, the Detroit Lions. Michael Vick had a terrific afternoon as he passed for 284 yards and two touchdowns, he also had a superb QB rating of 108. When Vick wasn’t lighting it up against the Lions LeSean McCoy was, McCoy ran for 120 yards and had three scores. The defense still is cause for concern as they are ranked dead last in points allowed per contest (29.5) and are a banged up bunch coming into this contest. However, the Eagles received great news this past week as starting linebacker Stewart Bradley, who also suffered a concussion in Week 1, has been declared symptom free and will return to action as Philadelphia looks to slow down Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew. The Eagles have had a hard time stopping the run, allowing 123.5 yards a game on the ground. Philadelphia will have a serious dilemma on their hand at the quarterback position if they are unable to return from Florida with a win this Sunday, could Kolb be back at the helm in week 4?
The Jaguars return home after being embarrassed in southern California at the hands of the Chargers, in fact, the Jaguars have been outscored 99-16 in their last 3 west coast trips. The Jaguars, after a strong game defensively in the opener against the Broncos, particularly in the area of pass rush where they registered three sacks, failed to get significant pressure on Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers this past week. One week after posting the best rating of his career at 138.2, David Garrard struggled badly against San Diego, throwing a career high-tying four interceptions. Luke McCown replaced him in the fourth quarter of a 38-13 loss. Jaguars running back Maurice Jones Drew, a Pro Bowl selection last season when he rushed for 1,391 yards and 15 touchdowns, has rushed for 129 yards on 35 carries this season. He will need to get the ball early and often for the Jaguars to have any shot of keeping up with the Eagles offense in this contest. Head coach Jack Del Rio is staying mum on his game plan and strategy to deal with Vick but expect the Jaguars to bring plenty of pressure and force the game into Michaels arm.

Eagles vs Jaguars Prediction for Week 3:
Game Total Prediction (TOP PLAY) – To say the Jaguars defense has not shown up yet would be a mild understatement, the Jags have allowed an AFC-high 55 points. Michael Vick, now with his pass first-run second mentality, has looked very impressive and should be able to keep it going in Jacksonville. The Jags offense is off and on, but they should have their chances against a banged up and suspect defense in Philly. Maurice Jones-Drew has yet to have a 100 yard performance this year and a back of his stature can’t be bottled up for too long, I look for him to have a big day and should find the end zone on more then one occasion. These two teams have combined to reach the OVER 10 times in games played in September through the last two seasons. Both teams were able to find the OVER in their respective matches last week and I believe the trend continues this week. Take a look at the OVER here.
Spread Prediction – The Jags have come to be recognized for showing up in big games, they are built upon this notion. They are a very large and aggressive team and they dictate the pace of the game in most matches. The Jags are undefeated against the Eagles as they are 3-0, two of those games being underdogs. Yes, Michael Vick looked very good last week but he was going up against one of the worst defenses in the league in the Detroit Lions. I look for Vick to be slowed this week and he might have to abandon his pass first approach. Philadelphia is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games, while Jacksonville has been victorious in 6 of their last 8 home games. QB David Garrard needs a big game to reestablish his legitimacy and he will most likely look to WR Mike Thomas early and often. We will consider taking the points with the Jaguars in this affair. Cheers! Prediction – Jaguars +3
