The NFL is set up with another great week of action on Sunday. Twelve games will be up on the board throughout November 22. One of these matchups will be between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns. These two teams have had opposite starts to the season, but will both look for a much needed win. This game will kick off at around 1:00 PM Eastern time.
Philadelphia has earned a record of 3-5-1 throughout this season, which has them in first place of the NFC East. The Eagles have struggled to get anything going this season, but are lucky to be in the NFC East. The Giants are a half a game back on the Eagles, while Dallas and Washington are both a game and a half back. Philadelphia will look to stretch that lead with a win in this one.
The Browns have put up a record of 6-3 throughout this season, which has them in third place of the AFC North. Cleveland is tied with the Baltimore Ravens, but lost to them earlier in the season. The Browns could get closer to that second seed with a win in this one. Cleveland is battling for a playoff position and needs wins like this one to keep their hopes alive.
These two teams have had opposite starts to the season, but it is the Eagles who are leading their division. Philadelphia has been able to hold onto their division lead, but are barely in front of the rest of the division. Cleveland is right behind the Ravens, while Pittsburgh holds a solid lead on the division. Both teams need a win in this one to keep their playoff hopes alive, which should lead to a great game.
The Eagles are coming off against a matchup against the New York Giants in Week 10. Corey Clement and Boston Scott both had rushing touchdowns for Philadelphia, but it was not enough. Wayne Gallman had two rushing touchdowns, while Daniel Jones had another rushing touchdown. The Giants were able to hold on for a 27-17 win at home.
The Browns are coming off a defensive matchup against the Houston Texans last week. Cody Parkey kicked off the scoring with a field goal in the first quarter. Nick Chubb then got a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter. Deshaun Watson had a passing touchdown to Pharaoh Brown late to make it closer, but Cleveland was able to earn a 10-7 win.
The Browns were able to find some defensive consistency last week against the struggling Texans. Philadelphia suffered a tough divisional loss to the New York Giants and will need to bounce back as they visit Cleveland. The Eagles were able to get it close, but back to back field goals by the Giants put them away. Philadelphia will need to come out faster in this one.
Carson Wentz is the starting Quarterback for the Eagles this season. Wentz has struggled throughout this season. He has thrown for 2091 yards, 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Wentz has also rushed for 206 yards and 5 touchdowns. Last week, he went 21-37 for 208 yards and no touchdowns. Philadelphia will need Wentz to step up in this one.
The Browns have Baker Mayfield as their starting Quarterback this season. Mayfield has had a solid season so far. He has thrown for 1646 yards, 15 touchdowns and 7 interceptions throughout this season. He went 12-20 for 132 yards and no touchdowns in last week’s win against the Texans. Mayfield will look to put up a solid performance in this one.
Cleveland has a slight edge in this one with Mayfield as their starting Quarterback. Mayfield has thrown more touchdowns and less interceptions, but has less yards on the season. Wentz has used his legs efficiently this season and will need to do so again on Sunday afternoon. If Mayfield can get the Browns air attack going though, it could be too much for the Eagles offense to keep up.
Offense vs Defense
Philadelphia’s offense has struggled throughout this season. The Eagles have been able to score 203 points and gain 2986 yards of offense, which is 24th and 27th in the NFL this season. The Eagles defense has been in the top half of the league though. Philadelphia has held opposing teams to 232 points, which is 16th in the league. The Eagles have allowed 3103 yards of offense, which is 11th in the NFL.
The Browns have been solid on offense throughout this season. Cleveland has been able to score 216 points, which is 18th in the league. The Browns have also gained 3130 yards of offense, which is 23rd in the NFL. Cleveland had held their opponents to 244 points and 3214 yards, which is 20th and 15th in the league this season.
These two teams have not been dominant on either side of the ball this season. The Browns offense is filled with weapons, but have struggled a bit. They will need to get going against the Eagles, who have been solid on defense this season. Philadelphia’s offense has struggled and they will go against the Browns, whose defense is coming off a big performance against the Texans.
The Eagles showed a lot of flaws in last week’s loss and I expect the Browns to exploit that in this one. Cleveland is at home and had an impressive win last week, showing that they can win a defensive matchup. The Browns are a bit banged up, but with Chubb back in action, I believe they can dominate the Eagles defense. If Cleveland can build up a lead early, I think they can earn a much needed win.
BetOnline has Cleveland listed as a -2 against the spread. This gives a slight edge to the Browns in this one. With Cleveland being at home, I believe they should be bigger favorites. The Eagles have been such an up and down team this season and I think the Browns will take advantage of that. With Carson Wentz playing subpar, the Eagles need someone else to step up. I like Cleveland to earn a big win at home.
