Philadelphia Eagles vs Carolina Panthers NFL Pick – Week 5

The NFL is set up with another great slate of action throughout Week 5. Fourteen games are up on the board throughout Sunday. One of these matchups will be between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers. These two teams have had opposite starts, but will look for a big win. This game will kick off at around 1:00 PM Eastern time.

Philadelphia has opened up this season with a record of 1-3, which has them sitting in last place of the NFC East. The Eagles are coming off a tough loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia was able to keep it close for a while, but the Chiefs were able to pull ahead late to earn a 42-30 win. The Eagles will look to end this three game losing streak with a win in this one.

The Panthers have put up a record of 3-1 so far this season, which has them in the top spot of the NFC South. Carolina is coming off a tough loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys were able to dominate on offense to earn a big 36-28 win at home. The Panthers will look to bounce back as they come back home though in Week 5.

These two teams are sitting on opposite sides of the standings through the first quarter of the season. Carolina has been one of the early surprises this season and will look to keep it going. The Eagles have struggled since their Week 1 win and will look to finally end that losing streak. If either team can jump out to an early lead in this one, it could be enough for the win.

Eagles vs. Panthers NFL Game Preview

These two teams last met up in Week 7 of the 2018 season. Carson Wentz helped Philadelphia jump out to a 17-0 lead going into the fourth quarter. Cam Newton had two passing touchdowns and Curtis Samuel had a rushing touchdown as the Panthers came back. Carolina was able to hold on for a big 21-17 win on the road.

The Eagles and the Panthers have met up 12 times throughout their histories. Philadelphia leads the all-time series 7-5 entering play on Sunday. The Panthers won the last meeting and have won three of their last five against Philadelphia. Carolina will look to keep it going with another big win this season against a struggling Eagles team

The last time these two teams met up a lot was different. The Panthers still had Cam Newton as their Quarterback, while Philadelphia had Carson Wentz under center. Now both teams have different QB’s getting the start in this one. Carolina will have Sam Darnold as the starter, while the Eagles are going with Jalen Hurts.

Opening Odds and Line Movement

This matchup opened up with a spread of -4 in favor of the Panthers. The spread for this game has shifted a little bit closer to even, dropping down to -3 ½ and now is at -3.

The over/under for this one opened up at 46 ½ points. The total has since dropped down to 45 points. This line makes sense as both teams have up and down offenses to go with solid defenses entering play on Sunday.

The spread for this game seems a bit off to me because it is going down against a 3-1 team. Carolina has not proven much this season and struggled without McCaffrey last week. The Panthers could be getting him back though, which could get this offense going.

Free Bet and Game Prediction: Carolina Panthers -3 (-110)

These two teams have had opposite starts to this season and will look for a big win in this one. Carolina took a tough loss last week, while the Eagles have dropped three in a row.

I expect Sam Darnold to get the start at Quarterback for the Panthers in this one. Darnold has thrown for 1189 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions. Darnold has also rushed for five touchdowns. Jalen Hurts will likely be the starter for Philadelphia on Sunday. Hurts has thrown for 1167 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions. He has also rushed for 226 yards and a touchdown.

The spread for this matchup has dropped down to a field goal difference which seems wrong to me. Carolina has gone 3-1 this season and are at home against a 1-3 Eagles team. Philadelphia has not looked great this season and if the Panthers defense can shut them down, I like their chances to win this on at home. I like the value on Carolina as slight favorites.

The Bet
Carolina Panthers -3
