A key NFC East matchup will unfold in Week 17 of the NFL’s regular season where the Eagles will head to the road to take on the Washington Redskins. The Eagles are now 8-7, playing a lot better under Nick Foles. Philadelphia enters this matchup in an absolute must-win scenario, along with needing some help with a Minnesota Vikings loss.
Washington on the other hand, has really hit a slide lately. They once led the NFC East, but have since lost five of their past six contests. The ‘Skins have also been hit pretty hard by the injury bug, now having 23 players on injured reserve. Their season has spiralled out of control, but they can try to wrestle back some hope for 2019 by spoiling the Eagles season.
It’s always exciting to watch teams react to must-win scenarios. Philadelphia has played in and won many big games before, and it will be interesting to see how they react to one more in 2018 to try and save their season. As always, read on below the odds for a full game breakdown and betting analysis for this NFC East showdown.

Eagles vs. Redskins Pick:
Nick Foles has been amazing at the helm for the Eagles lately. He has resurrected Philadelphia’s season and last week he looked great going against the Texans. The Eagles enter this spot needing a victory, and with the manner in which Foles has his offense clicking right now, Philly should be able to dispose of a depleted Vikings team.
Washington has a brutal secondary that Foles can exploit. They recently cut D.J. Swearinger since he openly criticized the coaching staff. The ‘Skins are also pretty porous at stifling the run game. The Eagles don’t have one outright dominant running back, but expect their blend of speed and pass-catching ability out of the backfield to trouble the linebackers for Washington.
On the other side of the ball, don’t expect Washington to have too much success in moving the football. The Eagles defense has been vastly better of late and this is especially true of late. Expect them to do a good job at limiting Adrian Peterson and force the Redskins into long passing downs. Josh Johnson has been solid for Washington, though he doesn’t have the skill-set to hurt the Eagles in their secondary.
Philadelphia needs to win this game, and I think they will go on the road and take care of business in convincing fashion. They are undoubtedly the heavy public side, but at under a touchdown, look for the Eagles to win their game, and then hope for a Vikings loss at the same time.
PICK = Eagles -6.5 (-110)
