Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL Pick – Week 2

The NFL is set up with another great slate of action on Sunday. Fourteen games will be up on the board on September 19. One of these matchups will be between the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. These two teams had opposite starts to the season, but will look to draw even in Week 2. This game will kick off at around 4:05 PM Eastern time.

Atlanta opened up this season with a matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Falcons could not get any offense going, getting held to two field goals on the day. Jalen Hurts tossed three touchdown passes and Kenneth Gainwell had a rushing touchdown. Philadelphia was able to earn a big 32-6 win to open up the new campaign.

The Buccaneers opened up the new season on Thursday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott went toe to toe with Tom Brady on the night in a thriller. Prescott had three passing touchdowns and the Cowboys went up one point with 90 seconds left. Brady had four passing touchdowns and marched down the field to set up a game winning kick as Tampa Bay won 31-29.

These two teams have very opposite performances in Week 1 and will look to change things up in this one. Tampa Bay’s offense was firing on all cylinders in the opening night matchup, but their defense had struggles. The Falcons could not get anything going early. Atlanta will look to come out much better as they face their division rival in Week 2.

Falcons vs. Buccaneers NFL Game Preview

The Falcons and Buccaneers met up two times throughout last season. Atlanta hosted the first game in Week 15. Tampa Bay scored 31 points in the second half to earn a 31-27 win. The second game of the season was in Tampa Bay in Week 17. The Buccaneers were able to dominate from the start earning a 44-27 win to close out the regular season.

Atlanta owns the lead in the all-time series against the Buccaneers. The Falcons have gone 28-27 against Tampa Bay throughout history. The Buccaneers were able to sweep Atlanta in both games last season though and have won three of their last four games against Tampa Bay. The Falcons will look to bounce back this season.

These two teams look pretty close to the same as last season. Atlanta still has Matt Ryan under center, while the Buccaneers still have Tom Brady. Tampa Bay’s starters stayed the same from last season, while the Falcons did sell some big name players off as they enter a rebuild. Atlanta will look to use that to surprise the Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.

Opening Odds and Line Movement

The line for this one opened up at -13 in favor of Tampa Bay. This line has not seen much movement and is at -12 ½ only a couple of days before kickoff.

The Over/ Under for Sunday’s tilt started at 52 points and has not moved since. This line makes sense with both teams being known for their offenses, especially when going up against each other.

This line makes sense where it is because of the Falcons rough Week 1 performance. The Buccaneers also had some extra days of before this one, but will still have a lot of work to do as they go up against a rival.

Free Bet and Game Prediction: Atlanta Falcons +12 ½ (-116)

The Falcons are coming off an embarrassing Week 1 performance and will need to figure things out quickly as they go up against the defending Super Bowl Champions. Atlanta has a new look team though and I think they will improve entering Week 2 as the chemistry comes together more. With this being a division game as well, I think the Falcons can put Tampa Bay on upset watch this week.

Atlanta will need more from Matt Ryan entering Week 2. Ryan went 21-35 for 164 yards throughout Week 1. Tom Brady on the other side, went 32-50 for 379 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. Matt Ryan will need to improve if the Falcons want to get that offense going in this one. I expect Atlanta to change up the game plan entering this week.

Tampa Bay has the extra rest entering this matchup, but I expect the Falcons to match their intensity after Week 1’s loss. The line for this game is listed at 12 ½ points, which is a huge line, especially for a division rivalry. I think that Atlanta will look better after Week 1’s disappointment. As huge underdogs in this one, I think there is good value on the Falcons.

The Bet
Atlanta Falcons +12.5
