New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles Week 7 Pick – NFL October 22

The NFL is set up with another good week of action and will kick off with Thursday Night Football. The New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles will meet up on Thursday Night as they battle it out. These two teams have struggled to open up the season, but will look to get back in the win column with a win in this one. This game will kick off at around 8:20 PM Eastern time.

New York has earned a record of 1-5 throughout the season so far, which has them in third place of the NFC East. The Giants have struggled throughout this season, but are coming off a nice divisional win against the Washington Football Team. New York will look to rattle off their second straight win with a victory over Philadelphia on Thursday Night.

The Eagles have put up a record of 1-4-1 throughout the regular season, which has them in second place of the NFC East. Philadelphia is coming off a solid performance against the Baltimore Ravens in which them ultimately fell short. The Eagles will look to get back in the win column with a victory at home on October 22.

These two teams have struggled to get anything going throughout this season, but they will both have a chance to get back in the win column in this one. I expect both teams to try and come out hot as they look to earn a divisional win. If either team can jump out to an early lead, it could be enough to earn a big win on Thursday Night Football.

Previous Matchups

The Giants and the Eagles met up twice throughout last season. The first meeting was in Philadelphia in Week 14. Darius Slayton caught two touchdowns from Eli Manning as the Giants took a 17-3 lead. Boston Scott rushed for a touchdown to make it closer and Zach Ertz caught two touchdown passes from Carson Wentz to give the Eagles a 23-17 win in overtime.

New York and Philadelphia both met for the second time in Week 17 in New York. Golden Tate caught a touchdown pass from Daniel Jones, while Saquon Barkley had a rushing touchdown. The Giants still came up short though. Boston Scott rushed for three touchdowns on the day, while Joshua Perkins caught a touchdown pass. The Eagles were able to win 34-17 to finish out the season.

New York met up with the Washington Football Team at home last week. Kyle Allen threw two touchdown passes, one to Cam Sims and one to Logan Thomas. Darius Slayton caught a touchdown pass from Daniel Jones. Tae Crowder had a fumble returned for a touchdown. Washington went for two on the final play of the game and came up short, which led to a 20-19 win for the Giants.

The Eagles faced the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6 of this season. Lamar Jackson threw a touchdown pass and rushed for another. Gus Edwards had another rushing touchdown as the Ravens jumped out to a 24-6 lead. Carson Wentz threw two touchdown passes, while rushing for another, but the Eagles could not get the two point conversion to tie it up. Baltimore finished with a 30-28 win.

Quarterback Comparison

The Giants have Daniel Jones as their starting Quarterback this season. Jones has struggled a lot this season. He has thrown for 1223 yards, 3 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. Jones has rushed for another 204 yards on the season. Last week, Jones went 12-19 for 112 yards, 1 touchdown and an interception. New York will need more from him if they are going to win on Thursday night.

Philadelphia has Carson Wentz as their starting Quarterback this season. Wentz has also had a really tough season so far. Wentz has thrown for 1401 yards, 8 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Wentz has rushed for another 171 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was able to go 21-40 for 213 yards and 3 total touchdowns against the Ravens last week.

These two Quarterbacks have shown promise in their young careers, but are both off to tough starts this season. Jones has struggled to find the endzone with any consistency this season and both Quarterbacks have struggled with turnover issues. If either QB can play a clean game on Thursday night, it might be enough to give his team the win. Wentz is coming off a stronger performance last week and will look to build off that.

Struggling Offenses

New York has not been able to find any consistency on offense this season, which has been headlined with Saquon Barkley out. The Giants have scored 101 points this season and gained 1652 yards, which are both 31st in the league. New York has allowed 152 points and 2052 yards throughout the season, which is 16th and 12th respectively.

The Eagles have also struggled on the offensive side of the ball. Philadelphia has scored 141 points this season, which is 22nd in the league. The Eagles have also gained 1976 yards of offense, which is 27th in the NFL. Philadelphia has allowed opponents to score 175 points and gain 2131 yards of offense, which are 23rd and 17th in the NFL.

These two teams have struggled on both sides of the ball this season, with the Giants struggling more on offense and the Eagles struggling more on defense. Philadelphia found some rhythm in their offense late last week, which could help them earn a win in this one. I believe that the Eagles could take control of this one with it being at home.

Pick Overview

These two teams have struggled throughout this season but are both in the thick of the race for the division. A win in this one would go a long way in the NFC East. I believe the Eagles have the edge in this one with Carson Wentz under center and the better offense. If Philadelphia can continue where they left off last week, it should be enough to push them past the Giants.

BetOnline has the Eagles listed as a -4 ½ against the spread in this one. This gives a solid edge to Philadelphia, which I agree with. Neither team has looked good this season, but I think the Eagles have been a bit better. Philadelphia is coming off a tight loss in their last two games, which I think will give them motivation to bounce back at home in Week 7.

Philadelphia Eagles -4.5
