Surely one of the biggest games this week in the NFL will go down during the second slate of action in what many believe could potentially be a Super Bowl preview between the Packers and Colts.
Green Bay enters Week 11 with a stellar 7-2 record, mostly on the backs of a steady defense and an elite season from Aaron Rodgers. For the Colts, they’re 6-3 and have to be feeling confident coming off of a thrashing against their divisional rivals in Tennessee back in Week 10. The Indy defense remains one of the league’s best and it should be fascinating to see if they can slow down this Packers’ attack.
With playoff positioning already at a premium, and the expanded format to the post-season now a certainty – both of these squads will surely be prioritizing securing a first-round bye. The winner of this crucial Week 11 encounter will be one step closer. Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts Pick:
Despite a minor scare from the Jaguars last week, the Packers just kept on rolling on both sides of the football in Week 10. Aaron Rodgers is playing insanely good at the moment, though he’ll surely receive a stiff test from one of the league’s top stop units in Indianapolis.
The Colts can bring pressure and still manage to cover downfield, but truthfully – they’ve yet to see an offense as explosive or talented as Green Bay’s. Davante Adams can’t be stopped, and certainly not by Xavier Rhodes. Meanwhile, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard will both be at the disposal of Rodgers this week for this first time in a while. All of those options should prove to be overwhelming to Indianapolis through the air.
That has to be welcome news for Green Bay, as who knows if they’ll have much success on the ground through Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams. The Colts are quite stout vs. the run, and won’t be able to effectively count on that duo to move the chains with regularity.
For Indy, it likely won’t be all that easy to move the ball through the air on this excellent Green Bay secondary. It’s believed that the Packers will get back both Jaire Alexander and Kevin King from injury, and combined with Philip Rivers’ fading arm strength – Green Bay should really limit the Colts through the air. Where Indianapolis will try to move the ball is via the run game, where Green Bay has seemed suspect in recent weeks. Whether or not the Colts have solid enough runners to exploit this matchup advantage though, well that’s something that remains in doubt.
Green Bay enters this game the healthiest they’ve been since the start of the season. They’re elite on both sides of the football, and despite being soft up the middle against the run – expect the Packers to address this with a loaded box on obvious running downs. The Packers are the more talented side, and Aaron Rodgers should be able to lead his squad to another impressive victory on Sunday.
