Indianapolis Colts vs. San Francisco 49ers NFL SNF Week 7 Pick – October 24

The Week 7 edition of Sunday Night Football should deliver plenty of intrigue as the Indianapolis Colts head to northern California to take on the San Francisco 49ers.

With the Niners, they enter Week 7 coming off of their bye week, and it’ll once again be Jimmy Garoppolo under centre for them. Trey Lance was badly ineffective a couple of weeks ago, and is now injured. The backup rookie is clearly not ready for the starting role, and not having him in the lineup could enhance Jimmy G’s confidence – and he’ll need it after a bad week in the press following negative reports from former teammates!

For Indy, the Colts have shown well their past few outings following an unlucky start. Carson Wentz has battled through injuries, and has seemingly gotten healthier as time has progressed. They enter at 2-4 but still have a shot in a wide-open AFC South division. With TY Hilton back in the receiving fold, this new-look Colts’ attack has the potential for some damage.

With both squads firmly jockeying for prime positions atop their respective divisions, yet entering under .500 – this Sunday Night Football match-up should bring out some desperation. For added insight, live odds, trends, and the latest data – keep reading below for our betting analysis on the Colts vs. Niners as we look to close out a busy Sunday slate with another winner.

Indianapolis Colts vs. San Francisco 49ers Prediction

Though the 49ers say Jimmy Garropolo is fully healthy, you have to wonder – especially given the status of Trey Lance. Jimmy G will no doubt be keen on asserting his dominance on the starting role with no Lance breathing over his shoulder, but the Colts can trouble him on Sunday night.

Despite having a shaky and banged-up secondary, Garropolo hasn’t consistently shown that he can beat defensive backfields. With no George Kittle as a safety option, hitting receivers downfield could prove problematic coming off an injury.

Making matters worse, is that the Niners are likely not going to have all that much success running on this tough and hardened Indianapolis defensive front. The Colts have stifled opposing rushing attacks all season long, and San Francisco’s rotating cast of runners doesn’t inspire much confidence at moving the chains.

The Colts’ offense enters this clash trending in a very positive direction, especially with TY Hilton returning to the fold. Hilton looked awesome last week in limited action, and his chemistry with Wentz was already established.

That duo should shred the Niners in Week 7, as San Fran is battling some pretty major cornerback injuries, with both Jason Verrett and K’Waun Williams out injured. That’ll open things up for Wentz downfield, and give Jonathan Taylor a less stacked box to contend with as well.

This is an improved Colts squad in recent weeks as they’ve returned to full health, and their record isn’t indicative of their current levels. It’s basically a must-win for Indianapolis at this point in the season, and we’ll see how Carson Wentz fares in this spot Sunday evening.

Colts vs. 49ers Trends To Know:

  • Colts are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
  • Colts are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
  • 49ers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games.
  • 49ers are 1-5 ATS vs. a team with a losing record.
  • Road team is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.

Despite the fact that San Francisco is the more rested side and coming off of their bye week, they aren’t necessarily the healthier group.  Some cluster injuries at corner should help Indianapolis’ improved passing attack, and with Quenton Nelson back and a steadier run attack in a likely bad weather spot, you have to lean the Colts plus the points here.

Colts +4
