It hasn’t been the start the Dallas Cowboys were hoping for entering this season, but given the mediocre nature of the NFC East – they enter Week 6 with a shot still at the post-season.
Their task gets tougher this week however as they welcome one of the elite defenses to Jerry World, as the Jacksonville Jaguars will pay them a rare visit. The Jags have to feel that they are better than their current 3-2 record would indicate, and if they are to reach last season’s levels, Blake Bortles and the offense needs to start playing better. Read on below for a full game breakdown, and official betting selection as we prep you for Week 6 of the NFL regular season.

Jaguars vs. Cowboys Pick:
Last week, the Dallas Cowboys made things close against their state-rivals from Houston, but got badly outplayed in the process. Dallas was outgained by close to 200 yards, and with the way they’re going right now – that’s likely going to be a common theme moving forward.
The Jaguars’ defense is elite and will be even more motivated coming off of a loss. Dak Prescott hasn’t been good this season, and barely has any competent receivers to target downfield. Right there, the Cowboys are already a one-dimensional team, and the Jags should easily be able to load the box, and gear up their front-seven for a healthy dose of Ezekiel Elliott. Jacksonville has an excellent crew of linebackers and should effectively put the clamps on him. I think the Jags dominate Dallas in every aspect of this matchup, and their pressure should be overwhelming at times. Look for Jacksonville to control this game through their defensive rigidity, and perhaps even have this lead to a couple of turnovers.
On the other side of the ball, Blake Bortles cannot screw this up for Jacksonville. He needs to play safe to be effective, and with the Cowboys missing linebacker Sean Lee, there might be some openings for the struggling Jacksonville attack.
Look for the Jags to get back to their simple, but effective passing offense, with a plethora of crossing routes from their receivers to not allow corner Byron Jones to take over. Without Sean Lee, there will be gaps in both the run game and passing game, and if Bortles can stay patient and get some time in the pocket from his blockers, the chains will be moving come Sunday.
Despite how popular Dallas is, they’re being heavily faded by the betting public entering this match. But sometimes the heavy public side has to be the right side, and though it can be considered ‘square’ I’m rolling with the Jags in Week 6. This is a motivated group coming off a tough loss, and look for them to rebound in Dallas. They’ll play a safe game and will do enough on offense to secure victory here.
PICK = Jaguars -3 (-118)
