The Detroit Lions coming off of a huge win against the Redskins in a game that featured the return of their starting QB Matthew Stafford in which he had four touchdown passes. The Jets on the other hand are coming off a heart breaking loss that has to frustrate the entire team especially the Offense by losing the game 9-0. The Lions looked surprisingly good and their defense looked pretty good as well by getting consistent pressure on McNabb last week. This game will feature the top 2 Quarterbacks who came out during the 2009 draft and will be a pretty intense battle against a team with a shut down defense and a team with a pretty explosive offense. Game is set to start at 1:00 PM EST.
The Jets will be looking to shut down Calvin Johnson by stranding him on Revis Island this week and taking away Stafford’s main weapon in the passing game. Obviously the Jets have a great run defense so yards will be pretty hard to come by on the ground. On defense everybody know how aggressive the Jets are and how much intensity they bring to every football game. I think the difference will be on offense in this game, last week’s performance was an embarrassment and truly demoralizing for an offense that was previously playing pretty well and considering all the talent they have an offense there is no reason for this to happen. I expect to see the Jets expose the Lions on the ground with L.T and Greene getting lots of carries and breaking off plenty of big gains and Sanchez throwing only when necessary.
These are the new and improved Detroit Lions as you can tell from last week’s performance and it seems after years of terrible drafting they have finally got it together and are getting some big time contributions from their young guys. Stafford is a guy we all know about the arm strength is there and all he has to do is stay healthy and he will be special in this league, Best is explosive when healthy and is a definite game changer, and Suh on the defensive line has been a force to be reckoned with thus far into the season. The Lions are capable of moving the ball, but haven’t faced a test quite like this so far this season and it will be interesting to see how they deal with the Jets blitz heavy defense. I expect Stafford to have to try and win this game for them and fully expect it to be a shootout before the Jets pull away late.

Jets vs Lions Predictions for Week 9 Betting:
Spread Prediction (Top Play): The Lions are 6-1 against the spread this season and have been in almost every game they have played this season. These are the Jets though and have been able to take away opponents best options thus far this season. The Lions are talented, but their offensive line is still very suspect and the Jets have one of the better offensive lines in football. These are the type of games that are exciting to watch especially since the Jets are 5-2 ATS themselves this season so it really comes down to which team will be more efficient. I would say smart money goes with the Jets, but the Lions have been showing some fight and are going to want to put on a show at home. Either way I think games comes down to a field goal.
Game Total Prediction: This game features two offenses that have so many pieces and both can put up points on any given Sunday. I think the fact that both teams are 5-2 on the Over really speaks to the fact that they are capable of putting points on the bored and the Lions are 6th in the league in scoring much of that coming without Stafford shows what they are capable of. This game will likely be a shootout and a game that isn’t decided until the 4th quarter. The Jets rank 12th in the league at an average of over 20 points a game. I love the Over in this game especially in the dome in Detroit where weather won’t be a factor like it was for Mark Sanchez last week. The Lions defense is going to give up points and surprisingly I think the Jets will too.
