The New York rivalry gets renewed in Week 13 of the NFL season as the Giants play host to the Jets in a big game for both teams. Both New York squads have their sights firmly focused on the post-season and know that a victory this week would set them up well heading into the final weeks of the regular season. This is the first meeting between these teams since 2011 and it is always special for fans of the teams and just casual fans of football. The Jets are fresh off a huge victory last week, dismantling the Miami Dolphins. After a few outings of mediocrity, the Jets got back on track in a big way. The passing attack was in fine form and they’ll look to carry that momentum into today’s showdown vs. their New York rivals. On the other side, the Giants got down early to the Redskins and just couldn’t recover. Though they did make a comeback it wasn’t enough and now they face a pivotal situation at “home” today. This should be an extremely intriguing clash between the New York teams, so read on below to find out who I like in Week 13.
Jets vs. Giants Betting Odds:
New York Jets -2.5 (-115)
@ New York Giants +2.5 (-105)

Under 47 (-110)
Jets vs. Giants Pick:
Ryan Fitzpatrick has been very good this season, but you’ve got to wonder how long this can last. He’s been getting great protection all season, and has definitely been getting helped out by the likes of Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall from the wide receiver positions. This week however it may not be as easy. Jason Pierre-Paul has talked about getting more and more comfortable with his hand, and some weaknesses have started to surface along the Jets’ O-Line. Expect the Giants to overload the right side of their line with pressure to try and disrupt Fitzpatrick’s time and rhythm. There are opportunities to exploit, the G-Men will just need to capitalize. In the passing game, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie has been excellent this season. He’s limited opposing passers to just a QB rating of 48.7 on balls thrown his way, and he’ll need another stellar outing if the Giants are going to win on Sunday. It is likely he’ll be matched up against Brandon Marshall who is also having a great season. Can you trust Fitzpatrick entirely though? I can’t against this ball-hawking secondary. In fact, when Fitzpatrick last played this Giants defense, they netted three picks off of him last season. There’s a good Fitzpatrick and a bad one, and I think the Giants will do just enough to limit him on Sunday.
On the other side of the football, the Giants explosive offense will have its hands full with the vaunted defense of the Jets. However with no Darelle Revis in the secondary, Odell Beckham should be in line for yet another big game going against Antonio Cromartie. That said, there is a big talent disparity in the trenches, where the pass rush of the Jets’ should pose problems for New York. Expect Manning to have to abandon the run entirely, and focus on the passing game. Shane Vereen is someone who could be in line for a key outing as his familiarity with the Jets and his ability to catch passes from the backfield could be paramount on Sunday.
This is a tough game to call, and one that I see staying close throughout. I like the talent of the Giants though and with Weston Richburg and Justin Pugh returning to their offensive line, Manning will have just enough time and space to do damage from the pocket. The Giants defense does have holes, but Ryan Fitzpatrick isn’t the guy to exploit them. In a tight battle, I like the G-Men to get the key “home” victory in this battle of New York.
PICK = Giants +2.5 (-105)
