Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Week 4 Pick – October 3

A pair of surprising 1-2 teams enter Week 4 desperately seeking a victory. It won’t be an easy spot for last year’s AFC champions in Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, as Philadelphia certainly remains a hostile environment to come into as a visiting team.

The Chiefs were outplayed at home last time out vs. the Chargers, and enter a motivated group here in Week 4. This is a team that hasn’t lost two consecutive matches in what seems like forever, and expect a very professional approach from Patrick Mahomes and his teammates.

The Eagles enter this week on short rest, after getting soundly dominated by their divisional rivals in Dallas. They got bullied at the lines of scrimmage and couldn’t get a stop to save their lives on Monday night. If that’s what they showed against Dallas, Patrick Mahomes must be excited for this crucial clash in Week 4.

Philadelphia hosts Kansas City currently holding a 1-2 record, and will no doubt see Sunday’s contest as a must-win if they want to keep pace in a tight AFC West division. Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles Prediction

After an entire week’s worth of criticism and being lowly ranked in various power ratings, the Chiefs will enter Philly a highly motivated group. This is a veteran-laden squad that is thoroughly put off by what’s occurred thus far, and will work hard to rectify it on Sunday.

It all starts under centre with Patrick Mahomes. Expect the fancy throws and highlight reel plays to take a backseat for now, and I anticipate Kansas City thoroughly attacking a hopeless defense. The Eagles struggle to generate pressure, and can’t cover downfield. Dallas exploited every aspect of their stop unit, and Kansas City will very likely be able to replicate that success and keep the chains moving.

Philly has also been atrocious at stopping opposing running games. Dallas ran all over them on Monday Night Football, further opening things through the air. Perhaps maybe this will finally be Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s breakout performance as the Chiefs should count on him for some big moments.

On the other side, Philadelphia’s offensive line is heavily depleted and will quite likely be without three starters here in Week 4. Chris Jones and Frank Clark give the Chiefs a potent pass rush and one that will force Jalen Hurts into hurried throws and pressured situations.

And while Kansas City’s run defense isn’t anything special, it’s unlikely Philadelphia is going to establish that aspect given they’re likely to be trailing early and often on Sunday. Hurts has struggled as a thrower early this season, and with pressure bearing down on him, he’s unlikely to have success through the air.

Chiefs vs. Eagles Trends To Know:

  • Chiefs are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
  • Eagles are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
  • Eagles are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games in Week 4.
  • Under is 4-0 in Chiefs last 4 games following a straight up loss.
  • Under is 7-1 in Eagles last 8 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.

The betting trends and recent data all tilt this game towards the hungrier Kansas City Chiefs. They aren’t going to 1-3 and enter this week a surly bunch.  The Chiefs bounce back well, and should be able to dominate all aspects of this game.  Expect them to take out all of their frustrations on a hopeless Philly group.

My Pick
Chiefs -7
