The New York Giants will play host to the Detroit Lions at New Meadowlands Stadium on Sunday. The G-Men come into the game with a 3-2 record (3-2 ATS), while the Lions are 1-4 (4-1 ATS). Kickoff is set for 1 PM EST.
The Lions finally got on the board with a win last week and did so impressive fashion. Detroit beat up on the St. Louis Rams by a score of 44-6. The team has played better than their 1-4 record would indicate, having lost close games to Chicago, Philadelphia and Green Bay along the way. They have rewarded bettors by going 4-1 ATS so far this season. The team ranks 6th in the NFL in points scored, putting up 25.6 per game. Despite losing franchise QB Matthew Stafford in the first game, the team is also sixth in the league, averaging 250 yards per game passing. New quarterback Shaun Hill has been the reason as he is putting up some impressive numbers as the starter. The team has struggled on defense and is ranked 23rd or worst in all major defensive categories.
Meanwhile the Giants come into this game having played a Jekyll and Hyde routine through the first 5 weeks. After looking good in their opener against Carolina, the team looked lost in two lopsided losses to the Colts and Titans. The team seems to have righted the ship by beating the Bears in Week 4 and pounding Houston last week. The vaunted pass rush that helped them win the Super Bowl in 2007 is back, led by Osi Umenyiora, who has 6 sacks on the season. Hakeem Nicks has been stellar catching the ball and has caught 6 touchdown passes from Eli Manning. The Giants feature the number one defense in yards allowed this season, giving up just 244.6 yards per game.

Lions vs. Giants Predictions for Week 6:
Spread Prediction (TOP PLAY) – Detroit comes into the game with the worse record but have been far better against the spread than the Giants. They have been close in the game they have lost and may have had their coming out party against St. Louis last week. On the other hand, they often struggle on the road and the New Meadowlands can be a tough place to play. The Giants are the better team on paper and will likely win the game but they have covered in only 5 of their last 16 games ATS. Take the points in this one.
Top Play Prediction: LIONS +10
Game Total Prediction – Both teams can throw the ball and almost exclusively rely on their passing game. The Giants have really shored up their defense since being exposed by Indy in Week 2. I expect them to be able to put up points against a week Lions secondary and for Shaun Hill to have to play some catch up in this one. Overall, points are likely to be easy to come by for both teams. The total has gone over in 8 of the Giants’ last 9 games against an NFC foe.
Prediction: OVER 44.5 points
