Detroit Lions vs Los Angeles Rams NFL Pick – Week 7

The NFL is set up with another great slate of NFL action in Week 7. Eleven games are up on the board throughout Sunday. One of these matchups will be between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams. These two teams have had opposite starts to this season and will look for a big win in this one. This game will kick off at around 4:05 PM Eastern time.

Detroit has earned a record of 0-6 to open up this season, which has them sitting in last place of the NFL. The Lions are coming off a tough loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6. Detroit gave up three passing touchdowns to Joe Burrow. Brandon Allen added a touchdown pass as well as the Bengals dominated. Cincinnati earned a 34-11 win on the road.

The Rams have posted a 5-1 to this point in the season, which has them in second place of the NFC West. Los Angeles is coming off a dominant win against the New York Giants. Matthew Stafford threw for four passing touchdowns. Cooper Kupp had two receiving touchdowns, while Darrell Henderson had two touchdowns.

These two teams have had very opposite starts to this season. The Lions are the last winless team in the NFL and are coming off a gut check loss. Matt Campbell even called out Jared Goff after Week 6’s loss. Goff will now return to his former team and will look to bounce back. Matthew Stafford will face the Lions as well, which should add plenty of emotion to this matchup.

Lions vs. Rams NFL Game Preview

These two teams have not met up since Week 13 of the 2018-19 season. Matthew Stafford had a passing touchdown for Detroit, but it was not nearly enough. Jared Goff had a passing touchdown as well and Todd Gurley had two rushing touchdowns as well. The Rams were able to earn a 30-16 win on the road in this matchup.

These two teams have met up 86 times throughout their histories. Los Angeles has earned a record of 44-41-1 throughout these matchups. The Lions have won three of their last five games against the Rams entering play in this matchup. Detroit has had a rough start to this season and will look to finally get it going on Sunday afternoon.

This game is very appealing despite the difference in the standings because of the big offseason move. These two teams swapped Quarterbacks with Matthew Stafford going to the Rams and Jared Goff joining Detroit. Now these two QB’s will face their former team with something to prove. If either Quarterback can come out quickly in this one, it could be enough for the win.

Opening Odds and Line Movement

This matchup opened up with a spread of -13 ½ in favor of the Rams. This spread has only gotten bigger as the game has gotten closer. Now the line is up to -16 ½ and could get even bigger before kickoff.

The over/ under for this game is listed at 50 ½ points a couple of days before kickoff. The total for this game opened up at 49 points. The high total makes sense with Los Angeles coming in hot on offense.

The spread for this game keeps getting bigger. Usually this would make sense with Los Angeles being the much better team. With the amount of emotion entering this game though, I think that this line should be much closer to even.

Free Bet and Game Prediction: Detroit Lions +16 ½ (-110)

These two teams have had opposite starts to this season, but I expect a solid matchup as both teams look for a big win. Detroit has an entirely new coach and system since Matthew Stafford was traded. Jared Goff is coming back to a team that the only major change is the QB position. If Goff can come back with some emotion as he returns to LA, I think Detroit can keep this game close.

The Lions have not had a great start to their Jared Goff era. Goff has thrown for 1505 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. Matthew Stafford has had a much better start with the Rams. Stafford has thrown for 1838 yards, 16 touchdowns and four interceptions on the season. Stafford will look to keep it going in this matchup.

This spread is huge with the Lions getting +16 ½ points. With Goff coming back to Los Angeles and getting called out last week, I expect him to respond with a strong performance. Stafford will look to knock off his former team as well, but much more has changed since he left. I do not expect Detroit to win this, but I think they can easily cover this spread.

The Bet
Detroit Lions +16.5
