Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks Pick – NFL Week 5

The Los Angeles Rams are in Seattle for Thursday Night Football looking to bounce back following a loss against the Arizona Cardinals, 37-20.

The Cardinals went into SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles and weren’t intimidated in the least. They took it to the hapless Rams, as Kyler Murray outplayed the veteran Matthew Stafford.

Chase Edmonds was the underrated star of the afternoon. He gained 120 yards on 12 carries for 10 yards per carry. That’s a disappointing showing from the Rams up front.

They pride themselves on being a physical team that wins the battle in the trenches. That’s clearly not what happened.

While the Rams didn’t show up with a complete effort on Sunday afternoon, they’re still a 3-1 team and in a good spot. The Rams can use that experience and come back better for their next meetings against the Cardinals. That’s going to be a heck of a game. The Cardinals are good. I warned you before the season started.

The Seahawks are looking to stay on course after an impressive display in the Bay Area last week. After getting behind in the 1st quarter, the Seahawks responded nicely and won the next two quarters 21-6.

Russell Wilson didn’t need a monster performance. He passed for 149 yards and 2 touchdowns on 16 for 23 passing. That’s all that was required with the 49ers’ offense lethargic.

Seattle has to expect a tougher test against the Rams in this one. Stafford and the Rams looked uncharacteristically lethargic themselves in Week 4. I’m confident in the Rams getting back into shape on Thursday night.

The only team going into Week 5 without a loss is the Cardinals. The Rams and 49ers are knotted up at 2-2, while the Rams are second at 3-1. Head below for our free Rams vs. Seahawks pick on October 7, 2021.

Rams vs. Seahawks Prediction:

There were a lot of people that had Matthew Stafford in MVP territory through the first three games of the season. It’s much too premature to talk about the MVP, but it didn’t stop people from predicting that Stafford was going to be the next MVP on offense.

What happened to that? People love to overreact over one week, because suddenly you aren’t hearing much about Stafford. He’s passed for 1,222 yards with 11 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in a solid campaign so far for the former Detroit Lion.

Despite failing to lead the Rams to a big offensively showing last week, this should be a bounce back spot for him and the offense. The Seahawks did a fine job on Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance, but they’ve allowed 444.5 yards per game for dead last in the league.

The Hawks have conceded 292.5 yards per game through the air, which is good for 27th in the NFL. Once Jimmy G left the game with an injury, the Seahawks’ defense was in the clear against Lance. I’m not feeling the most confidence in the Seahawks doing it in back-to-back games. Not with the Rams’ playmakers on the other side.

Russell Wilson has been smart with the ball in his hands this season. He isn’t putting up the same monster numbers that he did a year ago at this time, but Wilson has been excellent in taking care of the ball and giving his team a chance to win.

He’s passed for 1,044 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions on 72.5% passing. Wilson has a QBR of 94.5 with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions against the Rams in his career. The Rams haven’t been as good defensively as people expected. They’re mediocre with 396.8 yards and 24.8 points against per game.

Like the Seahawks, the Rams’ secondary hasn’t been all that in 2021. They rank towards the back of the league with 273.3 yards allowed per game. While this isn’t Detroit Lions level frustration for Stafford, he probably expects more out of his defense. Expect this to be a fun game with the OVER getting there. A final score of 31-27 or 30-26 looks about right.
