Last week

The Giants ran their record to 4-7 with a 19-17 win in Cincinnati as they are in the thick of the hunt in the “NFC Least.” In took four Graham Gano field goals to ward off the Giants ineptitude as quarterback Daniel Jones was injured as he gave way to Colt McCoy. The Bengals lost two fumbles in their own territory in the fourth quarter to set up two of the field goals.

The “Let Russell Cook” mantra seems to be on all cylinders with the running game as the Seahawks won 23-17 at Philadelphia on Monday night to take a 1-game lead in the tough NFC West. Although Chris Carson only carried eight times as he returned from injury, it served Wilson well as he completed 22-of-31 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown. D.K. Metcalf continued his assault on NFL secondaries with 10 catches for 177 yards. He was targeted 13 times.

When the Giants Have the Ball

New York Giants LogoJones is downgraded to doubtful due to a hamstring injury which means McCoy will almost likely start in Seattle. Jones has struggled all season as he has only eight touchdown passes against nine interceptions signifying the lack of confidence and depth with McCoy as a backup. Only the Jets grade out as a worse passing team than the Giants. Wayne Gallman had a career high 94 yards vs. the Bengals.

Defensive end Carlos Dunlap is still nursing a foot injury and is questionable for Sunday. Seattle had it’s best defensive game of the season on Monday night as the Seahawks held Philadelphia to only 250 total yards while seven Seahawks combined to blast Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz with six sacks.

When the Seahawks Have the Ball

Seattle Seahawks LogoThe Seahawks are hoping that Carson is healthy and will be a focal point in their run to an NFC West title and a deep run in the playoffs. Having Carlos Hyde beside of him would be stellar for the passing game as well. This could be a huge day for Wilson, Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in the passing game. Lockett has 770 yards on 71 catches and eight touchdowns while the athletic Metcalf averages 17.9 yards per catch and is at 1,039 yards on 58 receptions.

The Giants have been good against the run as they allow only 95 yards per game, with linebacker Blake Martinez sitting at 101 tackles so far. It’s his fourth straight season with over 100 tackles. The ‘Hawks will isolate matchups on cornerback Isaac Yiadom who is going to have to have lots of safety help vs. the passing game.
