I’m not so much annoyed that Denver beat Oakland, but more so that people automatically assume Tim Tebow is responsible for it. While he definitely had a much better game than the week before, that really isn’t saying very much. Instead, Denver can thank Willis McGahee and Eddie Royal for their upset win, rather than anything the boy wonder did. I’m also annoyed at myself for not trusting my initial instinct to go with San Francisco, who of course cruised to an easy win. This is a good cautionary tale for all you survivor players: when debating between two options, going with your gut is a good tie breaker. Still, the 49ers did win, so we add them to our unavailable list, and the Raiders go back into the pool. Let’s take a look at what’s out there this week:
The biggest spreads favor the Eagles, Packers, Ravens, and Cowboys. Every other game has a spread of 3 points or less, but I would also add to the list the Jaguars, Texans, and Chiefs. Unfortunately for us, we need to eliminate a good chunk of these teams since we have played them already. So say good bye to Green Bay, Baltimore, Dallas and Houston. That leaves us with Philly, Jacksonville and Kansas City. Despite the small spreads, I actually don’t mind the Jags or the Chiefs. I don’t buy the Broncos being a good team, and the Colts seem pretty ready to call it a day on the 2011 season. Still, neither the KC or Jacksonville are good enough for me to hang my hat on with the Eagles still available and facing a very weak Arizona team that is likely starting John Skelton. The Eagles did lose to the Bears and have been a huge disappointment this season, but nevertheless they are still loaded with talent, are at home, and are facing one of the worst teams in the league. I can’t find a good reason for this game to even be close, as Michael Vick should be able to do just about anything he wishes against a weak defense. Lesean McCoy should also have a huge day, as the Cardinals are only average against the run. It is a bit of a treat to be in Week 10 and have a slam dunk survivor pick to choose from, so enjoy it, as next week we have byes to deal with and the majority of the good teams in the league already used. But for this week, the Eagles should be a safe pick barring more Patrick Peterson heroics on special teams.
Pick: 1) Philadelphia 2) Jacksonville 3) Kansas City
Already used: Houston, Pittsburgh, San Diego, New Orleans, New England, Green Bay, Dallas, Baltimore, San Francisco
