NFL Week 12 Lines (Early Lines)

After what was an exciting week in the NFL (especially here at TheSportsGeek.com where our writers went 12-3 with their top plays!) we are getting ready for another weekend of NFL action, which includes one of my favorite times of the year – Turkey Day!  NFL Week 12 lines are posted below for all three thanksgiving games, and a selection of interesting Week 12 lines for the weekend as well.

Thursday Week 12 NFL Lines (Thanksgiving Day):

New England Patriots -6.5 (-110 @ 5Dimes.com)
@ Detroit Lions +7 (-115 @ Sportsbook.com)

Game Total = 51

The Patriots opened up at 7 point favorites, but has shifted a half point in each direction since the initial opening line.  It seems as if the public betting will be all over the favorites in this one, while the sharp money will stick with the Lions +7 or more.  If you are betting on the Patriots you are better off to do it now while you can get them at 6.5, and I would wait to bet on Detroit until closer to kickoff.  The Lions are 2-8, but are 7-3 against the spread, which includes 4 straight home wins against the spread.

New Orleans Saints -3.5 (-110 @ Sportsbook.com)
@ Dallas Cowboys  + 4 (-105 @ BetED.com)

Game Total – 50

After lines opened at the Saints -3 the money quickly came in on New Orleans, bumping the line to 3.5 and even 4 at some sportsbooks.  After a horrible start to the season and firing of their head coach, Dallas has bounced back winning two straight against the Giants as 14 point underdogs and covering the 5 point spread against Detroit last weekend.  The Saints have put together three straight up and against the spread wins after dropping a game against Cleveland.  If you were to only base the pick on the Cowboys last two games it would almost be a no brain’er to take them +4 at home, but not knowing if the Cowboys will return to “Wade Phillips form” makes this a tough bet.

Cincinnati Bengals +9 (-115 @ Sportsbook.com)
@ New York Jets -8 (-110 @ 5Dimes.com)

Game Total – 44

We saw 5Dimes initially open this line with the Jets -105, but quickly dropped to 9 where it opened at most sportsbooks.  Most books have the Jets at 9 point favorites right now, but 5Dimes is now listing the Jets as 8 point favorites (probably to get some money back on the Jets side).  If you want to bet the Jets do it now at 5Dimes.   The Jets come into the game 8-2 on the season but just 3-2 at home, while the Bengals are an embarrassing 2-8 and 1-4 on the road.   It doesn’t get much worse for Cincy who lost 49-31 to Buffalo last weekend as 4 point favorites.  Don’t forget that the Bengals have a few players who like the spotlight, and will come out to play Thursday night.

Weekend Lines for Week 12 in the NFL:

Green Bay Packers +2.5 (-105 @ 5Dimes.com)
@ Atlanta Falcons -2.5 (-110 @ Sportsbook.com)

Game Total – 48

One of the best matchups this weekend will be between the Packers and Falcons, who are both NFC playoff bound teams it looks like.  The Falcons opened up as 1.5 favorites, with an adjustment to 2.5 points coming soon after.  I expect this line to sit right around the 2 or 2.5 mark all the way until kickoff.  Note that both teams are 6-4 against the spread on the season.  The Falcons are 5-0 at home on the year, and 6-2 ATS  in their last 8 games on fieldturf.  Although the Packers are just 3-2 on the road this season, they are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games.  No doubt an exciting game this Sunday, make sure you shop around for the best line.

Other Week 12 Early Lines

Pittsburgh Steelers -6 @ Buffalo Bills
Philadelphia Eagles -3 @ Chicago Bears
St LouisRams @ Denver Broncos -4

**Line Just Opened**

San Diego Chargers @ Indianapolis Colts -3 @ 5Dimes.com
