Two of the top teams in the NFC will square off during the second slate of Week 10 action in the NFL. With playoff positioning already so crucial, both the 5-3 Panthers and 7-2 Packers know the importance of securing victories during this stretch of the season.
Carolina rebounded nicely last week against Tennessee, following an embarrassing outing in Week 8 against the 49ers. Kyle Allen will be the starter for the rest of the season with Cam Newton out injured, and though the young play caller still has plenty to prove, he’s giving his team a chance to win each and every week.
For the Packers, they are coming off an embarrassing loss last week against the L.A. Chargers. It was incredibly unexpected given their recent form, yet Green Bay remains a positive and veteran squad that has the ability to shake things off and rebound quickly. In a supremely competitive NFC environment, there’s little time to dwell, only time to win, and expect the Packers to be poised to improve upon their 7-2 record on Sunday.
Keep reading beneath the odds for a tactical preview and match prediction for Green Bay vs. Carolina on Sunday. It’s rare to say in Week 10 that this could be a potential playoff preview, but given the form thus far in 2019 of these two squads – it’s certainly feasible. Enjoy what should be one of the marquee matchups of the Week 10 slate!

Panthers vs. Packers Pick:
Last week for Green Bay was just one of those games where you burn the game tape and never speak of it again. They struggled in all facets and though they do have Aaron Rodgers, one of the main strengths of the Green Bay attack right now is their run game. Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams have formed an impressive duo in recent weeks, and given how brutal the Panthers have been at stopping opposing running backs, it’s worth a try to see the Packers try to exploit this. Relying on the running game should also alleviate the pressure Rodgers will inevitably face in drop-back situations. Carolina boasts a solid pass rush, while the Packers’ protection isn’t the greatest.
The Panthers’ offense will go as far as talented running back Christian McCaffrey can possibly take them. Carolina has been led by the former Stanford product all season long, though many have to wonder about his health following a week of very limited practice. The Packers do have some well-documented issues defending talented runners, though it remains to be seen the status of McCaffrey and whether he can take advantage.
Additionally, we are starting to finally see some cracks within Kyle Allen. He’s turned the ball over and his decision making when games get tight has been somewhat poor in recent weeks. Green Bay has an improved defense, and an opportunistic one that can create turnovers, especially within their secondary. In a game that will likely be decided by a couple of key plays, I’m rolling with Rodgers over Allen to not make a crucial miscue.
Expect Green Bay to really load the box and force Allen to beat them downfield with a cast of nobody receivers. The Panthers will go as far as Christian McCaffrey can possibly take them, and expect the Packers to be well aware of this. Rodgers is 28-15 against the spread all-time in his career, and with some key Panthers’ injuries circulating over the weekend, expect the Packers to bounceback in front of the Lambeau faithful on Sunday.
