Week 8 brings us football fans a delicious treat to end off the Sunday, especially if you love lots of points. The Green Bay Packers take their prolific act to the Superdome to take on the reeling New Orleans Saints. It’s a huge game for both sides, but likely more meaningful for the Saints. After last week’s dismal outing, New Orleans really needs to get on track and take hold of a sub-par NFC South division. What better time than on national television in a primetime game against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers? At 2-4 it’s now or never for the Saints and their chances for the rest of the season. As always, we’ve got you covered for the big games here at The Sports Geek. Read on below for a full game breakdown and our official wager.

Packers vs. Saints Pick:
Drew Brees hasn’t looked his usual self so far this year, but I suspect that changes in a big way today. He’s still a dominant quarterback when he wants to be and the fact that he likely threw away last week’s game in Detroit, should only add to his hunger to bounce back tonight. For this contest, he’ll be facing a pedestrian defense in Green Bay and will now fully welcome back Jimmy Graham to the fold. Graham was merely a decoy last week vs. the Lions. Let’s not forget how easily Ryan Tannehill and the Dolphins moved the chains against Green Bay two weeks ago. This Green Bay defense has a ton of holes and Brees will be able to have a lot of success Sunday evening.
On defense, it’s been an up and down year for the Saints. Despite a very sluggish start, there are signs Rob Ryan’s unit has turned the corner. They were great at defending the run last week and it’s not as if the Packers ground game has lit it up so far this year. Fantasy owners can attest to the struggles Eddie Lacy is currently going through. Look for the Saints to stuff the run and really hone in on trying to stifle Rodgers’ passing ability to Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. Unfortunately that’s much easier said than done.
Simply put this is a massive game for the Saints and it means far more to them than it does Green Bay. Dropping to 2-5 would really make it difficult for them to qualify for the playoffs, even in the weak division they play in. Also, the Saints are better than their record shows and the Packers are likely worse. They’re coming off a perfect outing and are likely prone to a bit of a letdown in what promises to be a raucous environment in Louisiana tonight. Add in the fact you’re getting a motivated Drew Brees, off a loss that was his fault, at home, and all signs point to New Orleans rolling tonight. Anything under a field goal works for the Saints tonight.
PICK = Saints -1 (-115)
