A huge all-AFC clash unfolds Sunday evening as two of the game’s top quarterbacks will go toe-to-toe on Sunday Night Football. Tom Brady brings his red-hot New England Patriots squad to Indianapolis, where Andrew Luck and the Colts are surely revved up for this showdown. When these teams last met, it was during last year’s post-season and the Colts simply had no answers for Brady and the Pats offense. With the way they’ve been clicking of late, you have to really wonder if anything has changed. The Colts have been a great home team in 2014, and with the current form of the Patriots, it promises to be a special evening. We’ll look to end off your Sunday on winning note here at The Sports Geek. Read on below for tonight’s game breakdown and official wager.

Patriots vs. Colts Pick:
New England has reeled off five straight victories and have looked as good as they’ve ever been under Bill Belichick. The Pats are simply rolling right now, especially on offense where they look unstoppable. After a series of premature predictions about Tom Brady’s inevitable demise, Terrific Tom has rebounded in grand fashion, all but silencing the doubters. He’s been on fire, and though the bye week may have cooled him down, he’ll be throwing against a defense that conceded the Steelers to throw for six (!) touchdown passes against them. Brady should pick up exactly where he left off. More importantly is not only is the entire Colts defense weak, they’re especially vulnerable at defending the tight end position. And when you consider that the Pats have Rob Gronkowski, that is downright scary news for Indianapolis tonight. Gronkowski looks healthy for the first time in a long time, and should be unstoppable against the Colts. Indy generates very little pass rush and Brady should be able to throw up huge numbers once again against an inferior defense. Since his Monday night shellacking against the Kansas City Chiefs, Brady has thrown up 18 TD passes with just one interception. This offense is averaging over 40 points a game in their last five weeks, and those figures should be maintained tonight.
Not to be outdone, the Colts too are fresh off their bye week and present some difficult challenges of their own. Andrew Luck, like his adversary tonight, is also in ridiculous form. He’s a definite candidate for this season’s MVP award, and despite the recent improvements in New England’s defense, Luck cannot be shut down. This offense will also move the ball and put up a ton of points tonight. Moreover, without Chandler Jones and Jerod Mayo, the Patriots run defense should be lacking. This defense can be run on and look for the Colts to be able to take full advantage. New England currently ranks just 23rd in the NFL against the rush, conceding 4.34 yards per carry. Indy’s two-headed attack of Ahmad Bradshaw and Trent Richardson is competent enough to break through and do some serious damage this evening.
With the current form of both of these offenses, it’d be hard to consider anything but the Over. Even with the number currently hovering in the high 50’s, the dome conditions and personnel should contribute to a ton of points being scored. These defenses aren’t at the same level of the offenses, and I think Brady and Luck combine for a pair of special performances tonight. Picking a side in this game is too tough to call, and I think heavy passing attacks and shoddy defensive play will result in this being a shootout in Indy.
PICK = Over 57 (-115)
