New England Patriots vs Houston Texans Week 11 Pick – NFL November 22

The NFL is set up with another great week of action on Sunday. Twelve games are up on the board throughout Sunday. One of these games will be between the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans. These two teams have struggled throughout this season, but will both look to earn a big win on Sunday. This game will kick off at around 1:00 PM Eastern time.

New England has earned a record of 4-5 throughout this season, which has them in third place of the AFC East. The Patriots are behind the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills in the division. New England has earned back to back wins coming into this one. The Patriots will look to keep that winning streak going with a victory over Houston in this one.

The Texans have struggled to open up the season, earning a record of 2-7 to this point in the season. Houston is currently in third place of the AFC South. The Texans have struggled to get anything going this season, only beating the Jacksonville Jaguars this season. Houston will look to earn their third win of the season as they meet up with the Patriots in this one.

These two teams have struggled to open up the new season, but New England finds themselves in a more competitive state. The Patriots could get back to .500 with a win in this one, while Houston is just looking to save some of their season. I expect the Texans to come out strong in this one as they are coming off a tough loss in their last one.

Previous Matchups

New England and Houston met up once last season in Week 13 in Houston. Tom Brady had three passing touchdowns, but it was too late for the Patriots.  Deshaun Watson threw three touchdown passes and caught another touchdown pass from DeAndre Hopkins. The Texans were able to hold onto their lead late to win 28-22.

The Patriots are coming off a matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Lamar Jackson threw two touchdown passes to Willie Snead, but it was not enough for the Ravens. Rex Burkhead caught two touchdown passes, one from Cam Newton and the other from Jakobi Meyers. Cam Newton rushed for another touchdown as New England won 23-17 over Baltimore.

Houston met up with the Cleveland Browns in a defensive battle last week. Cody Parkey opened up the game with a field goal in the first quarter. Nick Chubb then had a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to break this one open. Deshaun Watson threw a touchdown pass to Pharaoh Brown to make it closer. The Browns were able to hold on for a 10-7 win over the Texans.

The Patriots are coming off an impressive defensive win against the Ravens, which have a strong all around team. The Texans defense came to play against the Browns, but they could not get going on the offensive side of the ball. Houston is going to need to find some offensive consistency if they want to earn a win in this one on Sunday afternoon.

Quarterback Comparison

The Patriots have Cam Newton starting under center for them this season. Newton has struggled a bit to open up the new campaign. He has thrown for 1535 yards, 3 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Newton has also rushed for 335 yards and 9 touchdowns. Newton went 13-17 for 118 yards and 1 touchdown, while rushing for another last week against the Ravens.

Houston has Deshaun Watson as their starting Quarterback this season. Watson has continued to play really well this season, despite the Texans lack of success. He has thrown for 2539 yards, 18 touchdowns and 5 interceptions, while rushing for 233 yards and another touchdown on the season. Last week, Watson went 20-30 for 163 yards and 1 touchdown in the loss.

The Texans have the edge in this one with Watson starting under center. Watson has played really well, but will need to bounce back after getting shutdown in last week’s loss. Newton had a solid performance against the Ravens last week and New England needs him to continue that. Newton has rushed the ball really well this season, but has struggled to get things going through the air.

Defensive Battle

New England has struggled on the offensive side of the football this season. The Patriots have scored 189 points and gained 3203 yards of offense, which is 27th and 19th in the NFL this season. New England has continued to do well on defense this season. The Patriots have held opposing teams to 211 points, which is 10th in the league. New England has allowed 3180 yards, which is 13th in the NFL.

The Texans have not found any consistency on either side of the ball this season. Houston has been able to score 200 points this season, which is 25th in the league. The Texans have also gained 3190 yards of offense, which is 20th in the NFL. Houston has allowed opponents to score 252 points and gain 3682 yards of offense, which is 26th and 29th in the league.

These two teams have not been the best offensively, but New England has an edge on defense in this one. The Patriots defense has held strong this season, but it has been their offense that has let them down. The Texans had a great defensive performance against the Browns and if their offense can step up in this one, it could be enough to give Houston the win.

Pick Overview

These two teams have not had ideal starts to the season, which has led to below .500 records. I expect the Patriots and the Texans to both come out strong in this one. New England has won back to back coming into this one, but I believe they will fall to Houston on the road. The Texans have the edge under center, which I think will be enough to propel them to the win on Sunday afternoon.

BetOnline has New England listed as a -130 against the money line in this one. This implies that the Patriots will win this game around 56.5 percent of the time. The Texans are at home in this one and I think this game should be in favor of them. Neither team has not been impressive this season and I like Houston’s chances to take the win on Sunday.
