The NFL is set up with another week of action as the season continues. Twelve games will be up on the board throughout Sunday. One of these matchups will be between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs. These two teams have had solid starts to the new campaign and will look to earn a big win on Sunday afternoon. This game will kick off at around 1:00 PM Eastern time on October 11.
Las Vegas has started off this season with a record of 2-2, which has them in second place of the AFC West. The Raiders finished out last season with a record of 7-9, which had them in third place of the division. Las Vegas has cooled off after a 2-0 start to the season but will look to bounce back with a huge win over their division rival.
The Chiefs have earned a record of 4-0 to open the new season, which has them in first place of the AFC West. Kansas City went 12-4 last season, which they rode to a Super Bowl win. The Chiefs have not faltered to start out this season and will look to continue their dominance with a win over the Raiders on Sunday afternoon.
These two teams have put up solid records to start out the season, but Kansas City has looked almost unbeatable. Las Vegas will look to break into that armor a bit with a win over the Chiefs this Sunday. The Raiders had a very promising start to the season and will look to get back in the win column as they visit Kansas City on Sunday.
Las Vegas and Kansas City met up two times throughout last season. The first matchup was in Oakland in Week 2. The Raiders jumped out to a 10-0 lead thanks to a touchdown from Derek Carr to Tyrell Williams. Patrick Mahomes threw four unanswered touchdowns though, including two to Demarcus Robinson. Neither team could get on the board in the second half as the Chiefs won 28-10 on the road.
The second meeting of the season series was in Kansas City on Week 13. Patrick Mahomes threw for a touchdown and rushed for another. Darwin Thompson and LeSean McCoy both had rushing touchdowns as well for the Chiefs. Derek Carr threw a touchdown in the fourth quarter to make it a little bit closer. Kansas City still ran away with it as they won 40-9 at home.
The Raiders hosted the Buffalo Bills in Week 4 of this season. Derek Carr threw two touchdown passes for Las Vegas, but the Raiders still came up short. Josh Allen had another big performance, throwing for two touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. The Bills were able to walk away with a big win over Las Vegas. Buffalo finished with a 30-23.
Kansas City met up with the Patriots at home last week. Patrick Mahomes had a solid performance, throwing for two touchdowns on the day. Tyann Mathieu took an interception to the house as the Chiefs dominated. Jarrett Stidham had a touchdown pass on the day, but New England could not pull out the win. Kansas City earned a big 26-10 win over the Patriots.
Las Vegas has Derek Carr as their starting Quarterback this season. Carr had a solid season last season, throwing for 4054 yards, 21 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. Carr has had a strong season this season, throwing for 1095 yards, 8 touchdowns and 0 interceptions on the season. Carr will look to put up a good performance against a tough Kansas City defense.
The Chiefs have the best Quarterback in the NFL right now in Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes threw for 4031 yards, 26 touchdowns and 5 interceptions last season, which helped lead Kansas City to the playoffs and eventually the Super Bowl. Mahomes has started this season throwing for 1134 yards, 11 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
These two teams have had strong starts with their starting Quarterbacks this season. Neither Quarterback has thrown an interception coming into this week. Ball security will be big for both teams as try and earn a big win against their division rival. If Carr can keep up with Mahomes in this one, it could give the Raiders a chance to pull off a big upset.
Las Vegas has had a strong offensive performance throughout this season. The Raiders have scored 111 points this season, which is tenth best in the NFL. Las Vegas has gained 1507 yards of offense, which is middle of the league. The Raiders have also allowed 120 points and 1555 yards, which are in the bottom part of the NFL.
The Chiefs have been even better on offense throughout this season. Kansas City has dropped 117 points on opposing teams, which is eighth best in the league. The Chiefs have also gained 1623 yards of offense, which is fifth in the NFL. Kansas City has allowed only 70 points on defense and 1424 yards throughout this season.
These two offenses have put up points throughout this season, but I believe with this being a divisional matchup, it could be a low scoring or high scoring affair. Both offenses will look to break through early, but I expect both defenses to be prepared in this one. If either offense can dominate early, it might be too much for the other team to handle.
The Raiders are coming off back to back losses coming into this one. I believe that the Chiefs have a good chance to win, but with it being a divisional game, I expect it to be closer. Las Vegas has showed promise and with a solid running game, they can exploit Kansas City. Look for the Raiders to try to set the pace in this one as they look to pull off a huge upset.
BetOnline has the Chiefs listed as a -11 ½ against the spread in this one. This gives a big edge to Kansas City in this one. I believe that this is already a really big spread and it seems to big for a divisional game. The Chiefs have dominated this season, but I believe that the Raiders could keep this close. If Las Vegas can play a smart game, I think they can cover this spread.
