The NFL is set up with another great day of action on Sunday. Twelve games will be up on the board throughout November 29. One of these games will be between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Atlanta Falcons. These two teams have had opposite starts to the season so far. This game will kick off at around 1:00 PM Eastern time on Sunday.
Las Vegas has earned a record of 6-4 this season, which has them sitting in second place of the AFC West. The Raiders are in the playoff race, but took a fall with a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week. I expect Las Vegas to bounce back with a win on Sunday. The Raiders will need to win this one to try and keep up in the AFC.
The Falcons have struggled throughout this season, earning a record of 3-7. Atlanta is currently sitting in fourth place of the NFC South. The Falcons are looking to finish out the season with a nice winning streak to try and make a push. Atlanta has not been able to get anything going though this season. The Falcons will look to earn a nice win at home in this one.
The Raiders have been a better team throughout this season and will look to knock off the Falcons on the road on Sunday. Atlanta took a tough loss to the New Orleans Saints last week and will look to bounce back in this one. The Falcons have not been able to find any rhythm going this season, while Las Vegas has put up a strong season to this point.
Las Vegas is coming off a matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11. Derek Carr threw three touchdowns, while Josh Jacobs had a rushing touchdown. Patrick Mahomes had two passing touchdowns on the day. Clyde Edwards-Helaire had two rushing touchdowns, while Le’Veon Bell had another touchdown. Mahomes led a game winning drive late to give the Chiefs a 35-31 win on the road.
The Falcons faced off against the New Orleans Saints last week. Younghoe Koo went 3-3 on field goal kicks and that was all the offense Atlanta could muster. Taysom Hill had two rushing touchdowns, while Alvin Kamara had another rushing touchdown. The Saints were able to earn a big 24-9 win against their division rival.
These two teams are coming off losses last week. The Raiders were almost able to pull off the upset against the Chiefs again, while Atlanta could not find the endzone against the Saints. New Orleans was without Drew Brees in the matchup as well. The Falcons will need to fix their offensive struggles coming into this one if they want to knock off the Raiders.
Derek Carr is the starting Quarterback for the Raiders this season. Carr has had a strong season so far. He has thrown for 2431 yards, 19 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on the season. Carr went 23-31 for 275 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception in last week’s loss to Kansas City. Las Vegas will look for a similar performance in this one.
Matt Ryan is the starter under center for Atlanta. Ryan has not had a bad season so far, but it has not been enough for the Falcons. He has thrown for 2978 yards, 15 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Last week Ryan went 19-37 for 232 yards and 2 interceptions. Ryan will need to bounce back this week if he wants to lead the Falcons to a win.
Carr has been the better Quarterback this season, but Ryan has not been bad. Ryan struggled against the Saints defense last week and will need to step up in this one. Carr has put up great numbers this season and the Raiders will look for him to keep it up on Sunday. If Carr can come out hot, it could be too much for this Falcons defense.
Las Vegas has been able to put up really strong numbers on the offensive side of the ball this season. The Raiders have scored 286 points, which is 8th in the NFL. Las Vegas has also gained 3694 yards of offense, which is 14th in the league. The Raiders have given up 276 points and 3858 yards to opposing teams, which is 26th and 24th in the NFL.
The Falcons offense has been strong this season, but their defense has struggled to get anything going. Atlanta has put up 252 points, which is 16th in the league this season. The Falcons has gained 3819 yards, which is 8th in the NFL. Atlanta has allowed their opponents to score 275 points and gain 4066 yards, which is 25th and 29th in the league.
These two teams have struggled throughout this season on the defensive side of the ball. These two offenses have been able to dominate though. I expect both offenses to try and come out strong in this one as they look for an early lead. The Falcons are coming off an offensive struggle in their last game, but I expect them to bounce back on Sunday.
The Raiders are coming into this one in the heat of the playoff race in the AFC. Atlanta has struggled to get anything going this season and I think that will continue on Sunday afternoon. Las Vegas is coming off a disappointing loss to the Chiefs and I expect them to use that as fuel on Monday. If the Raiders defense can step up against a struggling Falcons team, I think they will earn a big win on Sunday.
BetOnline has Las Vegas listed as a -3 against the spread on Sunday. I agree with this line as it gives a slight edge to the Raiders. Las Vegas has been able to earn some big wins against struggling teams this season and need to do so again as the AFC Wild Card race tightens up. If the Raiders can come out strong on both sides of the ball, it should be enough to take a big victory over the Falcons.
