The Tampa Bay Bucs host the St. Louis Rams this week in a matchup of two of 2009’s worst teams. But how things have changed. The Rams are proving to be one of the best up and coming teams in the league, as QB Sam Bradford is taking the bull by the horns by leading the Rams to a 3-3 record so far this year, while the Bucs have impressed many by keeping pace with the Saints and Falcons in the NFC South.
The Rams rank middle of the pack in most offense and defensive categories, which is about right as they sit at .500 for the year. While Bradford is playing at a high rookie level, Steven Jackson is still the focal point of the offense, and he will always be known as the RB who, if he played for a better team, could have done some serious damage to the record books when it’s all said and done. Jackson will look to play a big part in the game this week; the Bucs give up over 150 yards per game on the ground, and the Saints made them look silly last week as backup Chris Ivory gained 158 yards on only 15 carries.

The Bucs will look to move the ball through the air on a Rams team that gives up over 230 yards passing per game, and with the young talent the Bucs have at receiver and QB in Josh Freeman, it’s certainly a possibility that Tampa can string some big plays together.

Rams vs Bucs Prediction for Week 7 Betting:
Spread Prediction (Top Play): The Rams are here to stay. They’re a very well coached team, they are young and they are playing with confidence right now after beating a Superbowl contender in the San Diego Chargers last week. The Bucs, although an improved team from last year, are realizing that they took advantage of the an easy start of the season in terms of scheduling. They’re coming up to a tough part of their schedule, in Arizona and Atlanta the next two weeks, and they may very well fall out of the race in the division. The Rams are the better team right now, and I like them plus the points this week in Tampa.
Game Total Prediction: The under is 5-1 in the Bucs last 6 home games, and this number seems just right for two teams that don’t average many points per game (ranked 27th and 28th). I like the under here, considering the Bucs/Saints game went under the number last week, and the Rams offense isn’t nearly as good as New Orleans.
