Ravens Browns Spread Line and Predictions NFL Week 16

The trash talking has already begun for this week’s matchup between the Ravens and Browns. LB Ray Lewis said about Browns RB Peyton Hillis that “a blind cat will find a meal once in a while.” Bold words coming from Lewis about a guy who has 1,598 all purpose yards and 13 TDs on the year. Hillis has been a huge reason for the Browns success against good teams; Cleveland have beaten the Saints, Pats and Dolphins, but their QB situation has hurt them throughout the year.

Colt McCoy gives them the best chance to win. His throwing ability isn’t as good as Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace but when McCoy is behind centre, the running game and defense plays better, for whatever reason. He’ll be in the lineup this week for the Browns, and will look to guide the Browns to a victory in the same fashion that he did against the Saints and Patriots. Cleveland depend heavily on the running game with McCoy playing very safe football, but the Ravens are coming off a very big win against the Saints, and sitting in 5th in the AFC, they’ll need to win to keep the Jets at bay. Baltimore finish the year against the Bengals next week, which is usually a highly competitive game. The Browns would love nothing more than to put a dent in the Ravens playoff hopes with a home win this week.

Baltimore’s offense outplayed the Saints offense last week, as RB Ray Rice exploded for 233 yards and 2 TDs in a 30-24 win. The Browns rank 25th in rushing yards allowed, and will have to contain Baltimore this week if they have hopes of winning. The Ravens defense is in the top 5 in points allowed and rushing yards allowed, and the trash talk that has started off the week should carry over to the field on Sunday.

Ravens vs. Browns Prediction for Week 16 Betting:

Spread Prediction (Top Play): The Browns are one of the best below .500 teams in the league. They’re one of those teams that rankings don’t matter, and are hurt by poor performances against poor teams. But what they’ve got going for them is the ability to get up for big games, and performances against the Saints, Pats, and their first meeting in Baltimore where they narrowly lost shows that. They have an underrated defense that capitalizes on turnovers when they get them. They’ve lost 2 straight, but with McCoy back in the lineup this week I like them to keep this close and stay within a FG. The dog pound is always a tough place to play, so I like Cleveland to cover the points this week.

Top Play Prediction = Browns +3.5.

Game Total Prediction: The Over is 5-2-1 in the last 7 meetings in Cleveland, and I think the number is too low this week. The Ravens can score on both sides of the ball and the Browns special teams and defense can also pick up the slack from their passing game. The number is set because of the Ravens defense, but Browns RB Peyton Hillis has been given extra incentive to go off this week. I like this one to open up in the second half and go over, so wait on it and reap the rewards.

Prediction = Over 39.
