Foxboro, Mass. Will be the site of what should be the game of the week in the NFL. The New England Patriots will be hosting the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of last year’s divisional round playoff game. The Pats are coming into the game at 3-1 (2-2 ATS) and the Ravens are 4-1 (3-2 ATS). The game gets underway at 1 PM EST.
The Ravens have started the season on the right foot and have a league-best 4-1 record. Baltimore beat the Broncos 31-17 last week and continue to feature one of the most ferocious defenses in the NFL. The Ravens are 3rd in the NFL in yards allowed per game, at just 257.8 so far. They have the second best pass defense and allow a mere 14.4 points per game. On offense, QB Joe Flacco has been up and down but found his stride with Anquan Boldin last week who was acquired from the Cardinals in the offseason. Flacco found Boldin for 3 touchdowns las t week against Denver.
The Patriots have played good football so far this season and have a 3-1 record to show for it. They made headlines prior to their bye last week by trading mercurial receiver Randy Moss back to the Vikings where he started his career. The team is hoping to rely on youngsters at receiver and tight end to pick up the slack. Of course, they still have all-world quarterback Tom Brady throwing the ball. Brady has thrown 9 touchdowns to just two interceptions and has passer rating of 109.0 on the year. The team is number one in the NFL, putting up 32.8 points per game. However, the defense has been gashed for nearly 385 yards per game.

Ravens vs. Patriots Prediction for Week 6:
Game Total Prediction (TOP PLAY) – New England has been piling up the points this season, but have also been giving up a ton. They lose a big time deep threat in Randy Moss but his sulking had led to him being a near non-factor in recent games for the Pats. The matchup of Patriots offense versus Ravens’ defense should be awesome. The Ravens are no slouch in putting up points either as last week showed with 31 against Denver. The total has gone over in 6 straight Patriots games and I expect a similar result in this one.
Top Play Prediction: OVER 44.5 points
Spread Prediction – On paper, this is the best matchup of the week and features a nice contrast in style. Look for the Patriots to utilize Wes Welker in the slot and their 2 rookie tight ends to make up for Randy Moss being gone. Baltimore embarrassed the Pats at Foxboro in the opening weekend of the playoffs last year and that is likely to be fresh in New England’s mind. The Ravens seem to feast on teams who can only do one thing. The Pats are such a team as they struggle to run the ball and don’t play much defense. The Ravens are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 when they are an underdog of 3 points or less.
Spread Prediction: Ravens +3
