Ravens vs. Cowboys Pick – NFL Week 11

The Baltimore Ravens travel to Texas for a meeting with the hottest team in the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys. It was an emotional week for the Cowboys, after Tony Romo essentially conceded his starting job to Dak Prescott. Romo will dress up for the first time in the regular season, but he won’t be suiting up as a starter. Romo will be in gear as a backup and will be ready in the event that Prescott suffers an injury. Wouldn’t it be something if Prescott goes down later in the year and Romo leads the Cowboys to a Super Bowl?

That seems like a little bit of a pipe-dream for Romo, who should probably just retire of that scenario plays out. Prescott has been great, certainly no one can deny him that, but with this beast of an offensive line and Elliott in the backfield, I am pretty confident Romo would be putting up monster numbers this year. Staying healthy is part of the game, though, and he has been unable to do that this season.

All it takes is another good hit for Romo to have a screwed up back which could sit him down for his career. Prescott will be at the controls today, however. He has been fantastic in first-year as a Cowboy, passing for 14 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions. Prescott has a completion percentage of 66.8%, as well as a superb quarterback rating of 106.8. We keep waiting for the guy to have a bad game where he regresses a bit, but he has yet to have one of those games. Especially as a rookie, this is extremely difficult to do. However, that bad game is going to eventually come, of course. The Ravens are hoping that the bad game comes this afternoon against them.

The Cowboys enter Week 11 at 8-1, as they look to completely pull away for the NFC East title. They just have to keep it together during the home stretch. Meanwhile, the Ravens are going to be fighting for a spot in the playoffs, which would most likely be a wildcard if they make it. There is still a lot of football left to be played, though. The Ravens have gone in waves this season. For two weeks they look like an awful team who is going to finish with 5 wins this season, and then other weeks they look like a shoo-in for the NFL postseason. With a record of 5-4, every game is important at this point. We’ll see if they can cool off the red hot Cowboys at the Jerry Dome on Sunday.

Ravens vs. Cowboys Pick:

I must admit, I didn’t see this coming from Prescott. I’m going to be really interested in how he does in the coming seasons, though. We’re going to see if he can keep it up after other teams have some more game film on him. Vince Young had that outstanding season and he fell off a cliff the rest of his career. There are no indications that is going to happen to him thus far, however. It’s not just Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott has been a special player in the backfield, rushing for 1,005 yards and 9 touchdowns. A lot of credit has to be given that physical offensive line, too.

The Cowboys are 3rd in total team offense, averaging an impressive 412.7 yards per game. The running game has been their strong point, with a two-headed monster between Prescott and Elliott. The Cowboys are averaging 161 yards per game on the ground. The Ravens are going to have their hands full in Arlington today. Baltimore have been taking care of teams with their defense this season. It isn’t the Ray Lewis/Ed Reed teams by any means, but they’ve been playing well.

The Ravens held the high-octane Steelers’ offense to just 14 points two weeks ago, and held the Browns to 7 points last week. It is the Browns, but the proof is in their entire body of work. The Ravens are 1st in the NFL with regards to total team defense. They are allowing just 281.6 yards per game. On average, they’ve given up only 17.8 points a game. They are number 1 against the run and 5th against the pass. I think the defense should be able to do enough to keep this within a touchdown. This line is a little too inflated for my liking. Cowboys at -4.5 or -5 looks like the correct line. In other words, I really like getting 7.5 on the Ravens.

PICK: RAVENS +7.5 (-110)
