Ravens vs. Titans NFL Pick – Week 6

The 3-2 Ravens and Titans meet on Sunday afternoon in Tennessee for an important battle in the AFC. This one might be a game we look back at in the winter and note why the Ravens or Titans aren’t playing in the playoffs. Mike Vrabel has done a terrific job with the Titans in his first season as head coach of the Titans. When Vrabel took on a role as an assistant coach, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before he was going to be a head coach.

As a linebacker for Bill Belichick, Vrabel displayed some of those qualities on the field. The Titans are a 3-2 team, so there is a lot of work to do, but he’s shown that he belongs in a head coaching role. The Titans have wins over the Texans, Jaguars, and Eagles. All of those wins came by 3 points. They got hit with a letdown spot last week, though, and came crashing down with a 13-12 loss to the Bills at home.

The Ravens are coming off a hard loss as well, a 12-9 loss to the Browns in overtime. They have to stay on the road, as they go from Cleveland to Nashville for this Week 6 clash against the Titans. The Ravens have victories over the Bills, Broncos, and Steelers. Their biggest win was on Sunday Night Football against the Steelers on the road. They notched a 26-14 win as the defense played like one of the most dominant in the NFL.

On the road in Cleveland, the Ravens did exactly what the Titans did. The trap spot stung them and they had a letdown against the Browns. It happens to even the best teams. It’s how they respond is what separates the best teams. There is a team who has to win and lose here, so both won’t be able to respond. If the Titans could just get their offense in sync and rolling, they’d have something brewing in the cooker. Vrabel has the defense playing at a high level of play, even in an era where it’s all about offense and quarterbacks. The Titans’ offense is going to have to deal with one of the best defenses in the league on Sunday afternoon. Get our free Ravens vs. Titans pick below.

Ravens vs. Titans Pick:

The linebacking core and secondary in Baltimore ranks amongst the best in the NFL. Mariota looked at his best against the Eagles and they’re going to need it Sunday afternoon. The Ravens have allowed just 15.4 points per game 1st in the NFL. They’ve held some great offenses in check, including the Steelers on the road in a hostile environment. The defense performed well against last week, but the offense just couldn’t get it going.

Flacco passed for 298 yards with no touchdowns and 1 interception. Alex Collins was held in check with 59 yards rushing on 12 carries. Despite the poor effort by Flacco, he’s been good this season with 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. If he can continue to play well, the Ravens are going to be a tough out with their defense.

Overall, the Ravens are 3rd allowing only 303.8 yards per game. Mariota and the offense, which have failed to find a rhythm, will have to throw into the teeth of this impressive defense. Mariota has thrown just 2 touchdowns to go along with 4 interceptions in 2018. Vrabel has gone to Blaine Gabbert at times to try and provide a spark, but he’s been rather pedestrian as well. This team will win or lose with Mariota. The defense has been helping him out, as they’ve allowed just 333.2 yards per game, but Mariota and the offense are going to have to pick it up soon. He shouldn’t look towards safety Eric Weddle, as he has allowed just four receptions this season.

The Tennessee offense has Taylor Lewan back on the offensive line, which should help, but they’re a team that is still stuck without an offensive identity. What is this offense? I don’t know if anyone can answer that question. I think without running quarterbacks like Mariota finding as many lanes as they did in the past, it’s way more difficult to find success generating yards. Delanie Walker healthy at tight end would have certainly helped them in that regard, but injuries happen. The Titans haven’t scored a touchdown in two of their last three games, and while the Ravens haven’t been hot news offensively either, Flacco is a better QB than Mariota. I don’t have much confidence with Mariota against this defense. It should be a close game, but the Ravens likely pull away in the second-half.
