The Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions line up against each other this week from Detroit that sees their number one QB Matt Stafford return from a shoulder injury. The Skins played a solid all round game last week in Chicago, beating the Bears 17-14, while the Lions are coming off their bye week.
Detroit are 1-5 on the year but deserve to have a better record. In 4 of their 5 losses, they lost by 5, 3, 2, and 8, and all against teams with winning records. They rank in the bottom 10 in all defensive categories, but their offense is better, especially their passing game. They get a huge boost this week with the return of Stafford, and with their extra week off to rest and prepare, they should be ready for a tough game.

The Skins took advantage of a horrible Bears offense last week that saw QB Jay Cutler throw 4 INTS, all to CB DeAngelo Hall. But they’re still averaging less than 100 yards on the ground per game, and McNabb isn’t exactly lighting it up. The Skins have already underperformed on the road versus a weaker team, losing to the Rams in St. Louis in week 3, and they’ll try to string together back to back wins for the second time this season on Sunday.

Redskins vs. Lions Prediction for Week 8 Betting:
Game Total Prediction (Top Play): The Lions can score points, they’ve proven that all year. They can also give up points, as their defense is bad and they have no one in the secondary that can tackle. In both home games this year they’ve gone Over the number, and Washington shouldn’t have a problem scoring points this week. Detroit will have to try and keep pace, or vice versa. Stafford’s return upgrades Calvin Johnson, and RB Jahvid Best is back to 100% after suffering a toe injury. Neither team does a good job at playing defense. The Skins rank 2nd last in defensive passing yards and overall yards, while the Lions rank in the bottom 10 in all defensive categories.
Prediction = Over 45.
Spread Prediction: Like I said before, the Lions don’t deserve to be 1-5. They’ve been in almost every game they’ve played until the very end, and they’ve got some great pieces to build on for the future. The extra week of preparation for the coaching staff and the return of their QB will be a huge advantage this week over the Skins, who’re over rated at 4-3 with wins over the Cowboys and Bears. The Lions are healthy again and I like them to cover this week.
Prediction = Detroit -2.5
