A quality Sunday on the gridiron, as we went a perfect 4-0 with our NFL picks. The only thing that would make it that much sweeter is another victory tonight. We swept Sunday, and now let’s sweep Week 4 with another winning pick on MNF. MNF features the Washington Redskins and the Kansas City Chiefs. Both are looking to turn a corner in 2017, and thus far, the Chiefs have turned a very big corner.
There’s a long way to go, but don’t like now, they’re 3-0 heading into Arrowhead on a Monday night. The Chiefs are in a highly competitive division, having to fend off the Raiders and Broncos. Sorry Chargers, you are excluded from the picture already. They are left without a win yet, while the Chiefs are the only undefeated team.
The Chiefs must win tonight if they want to remain undefeated, though. They have a Washington team on deck that just knocked off the Raiders last week on SNF. The Chiefs thank the Redskins for taking care of business against the Raiders, but this week they hope they’re not playing at the same level. The ‘Skins enjoyed an all-around effort, getting production out of the offense and defense. It isn’t often you see Washington get a complete effort from both sides against a good team.
They have another good team in Week 4, the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs started 2017 out with a bang, taking down the Patriots in Foxboro. It wasn’t just a win, they blew the defending champs out by a score of 42-27. The Chiefs didn’t stop there, following it up with wins over the Eagles and Chargers. They will be in front of a crazed environment tonight, while the Redskins walk in to one of the toughest environments in football. We’ll see how Cousins and company handle it. Redskins vs. Chiefs Pick:
The Chiefs have opened up the playbook for Alex Smith this season. He’s looking like more of a gun-slinger than he ever has in his career. The Chiefs, ever since I can remember, purely dinked and dunked their way down the field. Andy Reid has been turning it up, though, taking shots deep and it’s been paying off. Tyreek Hill has added another dimension to the Chiefs offensive attack. He can do just about everything and is a guy who keeps a defense on their toes. Hill has hauled in 253 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also has 6 rushing attempts on the season, so teams must prepare for that, too.
Hill is good, but the player stealing the spotlight has been rookie runner, Kareem Hunt. Hunt, ever since fumbling the first handoff of his career, has been perfect. He’s rushed for 401 yards and 4 touchdowns along with 137 yards receiving. After a month, it’s a tough call between him and Deshaun Watson for the ROY award. The Chiefs never really had this element to their offense before. Andy Reid looks awfully comfortable becoming more of a dynamic offense in 2017.
The Chiefs have averaged 397.3 yards per game this season for 2nd in the NFL. The only team ahead is the Patriots. They’re also 3rd in points per game with 31. The ‘Skins are 12th with 23.7 points a game. The KC defense has been playing well too, allowing 19 points per game for 8th in the league. Everything came together for the Redskins last week against the Raiders, but I don’t see a repeat performance in a hostile environment on the road. Five starters are questionable for the Redskins as it stands, including Jordan Reed and Jamison Crowder. The points with Washington may look attractive, but I think the right side is on the Chiefs on MNF.
PICK: CHIEFS -7 (-110)
