A huge NFC showdown will unfold on Monday evening from Philadelphia as the defending champion Eagles will host the Washington Redskins. This matchup will undoubtedly go a long way in determining playoff positioning, and whether either of these squads can track down the Dallas Cowboys atop the NFC East.
It has definitely not been the season the Eagles were hoping to come back from last year’s Super Bowl title with, but a heavy chance still exists for them to salvage things. Philadelphia still boasts a ton of talent on both sides of the football, and with a huge opportunity on Monday night – look for the Eagles to finally turn in the inspired performance we’ve all been waiting for.
This should be a solid ending to what has been a great Week 13 of NFL action. So continue reading on below the odds for a match breakdown and betting pick for the Eagles vs. Redskins on Monday Night Football.
Redskins vs. Eagles Betting Odds:
Washington Redskins +6 (-105)
@ Philadelphia Eagles -6 (-115)
Over 45 (-110)
Under 45 (-110)
Redskins vs. Eagles Pick:
Without Alex Smith at the helm last week, the Washington offense looked brutal. Colt McCoy is a savvy veteran, but he is clearly washed up. He was terrible against Dallas, with his arm strength clearly getting exposed. Against the Cowboys, he threw three picks, and despite the fact that Philly doesn’t really have all that great of a secondary, Colt McCoy simply isn’t good enough to expose the Eagles in the secondary.
Philadelphia does have holes at the moment, and their defense has been a huge letdown this season. But the Redskins’ attack is non-existent right now, and on Monday evening I’d expect the Eagles to be able to generate all kinds of pressure from their defensive line, and make life very difficult on Colt McCoy.
On the other side of the ball, the Redskins too can apply the pressure on the Eagles. Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz hasn’t been the best at QB since returning from injury, and he will need to be aware of this fact and get rid of the ball quickly. Luckily for the Eagles, they have so many talented weapons that could and should overwhelm Washington in coverage. Zach Ertz and Alshon Jeffery form a dynamic duo that can be big aerial threats. On the ground, Josh Adams has morphed into a talented runner, though he will get a stiff test this week vs. the Washington front.
I anticipate both squads having a tough time moving the football. Colt McCoy won’t be able to generate anything against the fierce rush of the Eagles, while Carson Wentz hasn’t fully hit his stride yet. The Eagles do however have far more weapons that can do damage. Zach Ertz and Alshon Jeffery are game-breakers, and both of those guys should be able to convincingly win their matchups. It is time for the Eagles to set the tone with a big-time performance, and I’d expect them to do just that on Monday night.
PICK = Eagles -6 (-115)
