Thursday Night the Washington Redskins look to keep rolling through the preseason with a match up against the historically tough Baltimore Ravens squad. The concern plaguing both squads going into the game is to answer the question of the quarterback position—one side a little more severe than the other. In the Raven’s case, they look to see who will back up Flacco. Without a doubt, for another season he’ll be the backbone of this team’s offense, but the questions remains, who can offer the best support behind him? Taylor and Cantwell are far from being everyday starters, but between the two who is ready to be thrown into this power offense if Flacco were to go down? Thursday night we should find out.
As for the Redskins, there’s a good chance Shanahan would love to be in the Ravens’ position. Still in search for a go to guy, his options are few and far between. Most Redskin fans have already started thinking that Sexy Rexy is going to be leading the Skins into week 1, but I wouldn’t be so sure just yet. Turning some heads this preseason has been John Beck with an impressive stat line of 14/17 passes completed for 140 yards and a QB rating of 101.0—a quarterback rating that most teams in this league would foam at the mouth for. Some will debate that he hasn’t thrown a TD yet this preseason, but he also hasn’t thrown a INT, and that’s more than what we can say for Grossman. The Redskins are 1st in total yards thus far in the preseason with 433, with 256 of those coming through the air. It’ll be interesting to see, but expect a spirited game from whoever is quarterbacking the offense for the Redskins. Don’t expect to see as much of Flacco this week compared to last, as they need to address the backup issue, and like the case for most teams, are not loaded in the position. Expect many 3 and outs for the Ravens, and lots of time from their defense on the field.

My Redskins vs Ravens Pick
With a 2-0 preseason record, and the need to see starters fighting for their jobs will be the Redskins +5.5 on this one. A similar game like they faced in week 1 against the Steelers, and they came out on top 16 to 7. If you’re looking for more of an incentive, the Redskins are 20 for 31 in preseason match ups since 2002, with a winning record of 0.645. Yes, I understand its preseason, but the Redskins need to shine somewhere. Prepare to see much of the same out of the Redskins this week, and can’t go wrong with the +5.5 either.
Pick = Redskins +5.5
