Following a solid Week 12, Week 13 is upon us with a marquee match-up between two NFC teams hunting down playoff spots.
Though these teams enter Thursday Night Football in vastly different positions, both New Orleans and Dallas know that every win they accumulate now, will go a long way come January. For the 10-1 visiting Saints, they are fighting for homefield throughout the post-season. Meanwhile, for the 6-5 Dallas Cowboys, they have pumped new life into their season. They now have a legitimate shot in the NFC East once again, and with their recent run of play – the Cowboys will look to keep the momentum going against one of the league’s best.
This should be a stellar Thursday evening affair between one of the league’s most watched teams, and probably the NFL’s best at the moment. As always, read on below the odds for a detailed breakdown and betting analysis for Week 13’s Thursday nighter.

Saints vs. Cowboys Pick:
The Dallas defense enters in fine form right now, but I really can’t envision them being able to limit the Saints’ attack right now. The current NFL is predicated on offense, and as has often been the case, a great offense can outduel a great defense. Expect Thursday evening to play out just like that. Drew Brees is in the midst of a renaissance season, arguably playing the best football of his career. He rarely gets hit due to excellent protection, and their stellar offensive line should nullify the Cowboys’ rush.
Downfield, the Saints are loaded with intriguing receiving options, and even if Michael Thomas is covered by Byron Jones – expect Brees to simply turn to his vast array of other playmakers. Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara form an elite running back duo, and their versatility as pass-catchers coming out of the backfield also makes them even more dangerous. The matchup of Dallas’ stop unit vs. the Saints’ attack will be intense, but look for Brees and the Saints to prevail.
On the other side of the ball, the Saints have really stepped up their defensive approach in recent weeks. Given how explosive their attack is, they haven’t had to be great – but they’ve managed to do that anyway. Marshon Lattimore remains one of the NFL’s top corners, and he’ll do a great job blanketing the inconsistent Amari Cooper of Dallas.
On the ground, the Cowboys will again need to really rely on Ezekiel Elliott to move the chains and avoid being too one-dimensional in their approach. The downside though is that the Saints suffocate opposing run games. They boast one of the best run defenses in the entire league, and will be surely up for the test that the physical Elliott will provide. New Orleans can and will also provide some pressure of their own on the error-prone Dak Prescott. Cameron Jordan and Sheldon Rankins should easily win their matchups, applying all kinds of pressure to the Cowboys’ QB.
This game might mean more to Dallas, but the Saints should really value the chance at controlling their destiny on their own home field. Seven points on the road is a lot, but the Saints are just so much better right now than Dallas, despite the Cowboys’ recent win streak. Expect New Orleans to be motivated and ready to make yet another statement to kick off Week 13.
PICK = Saints -7 (-110)
